Geforce GTX1180/2080 Speculation thread

They're the problem though, every single one of us on here knows we're being shafted by Nvidia, we're PC enthusiasts, we know how much these things cost - £1200+ for a graphics card - Crazy. Apart from memory chips, I bet the BOM cost has hardly risen since the 900 series. It's pure profiteering and many on here are happy to just throw them the money.

Some are happy being mugged and will happily pay it (Apple thrive off these types of people) others won't but those that pay it can't complain when they're responsible for part of the problem.

I preordered last time but won’t be this time. Last release I had 2x 1080’s and then 2x 1080Ti’s.

Now I can only just get 1 x 2080Ti with ray tracing which I don’t even want and would rather have a pure 775mm2 cuda cored chip.

The main reason is there is absolutely no benchmarks at all. No reviews of the ray tracing, or deep learning cores. Or even of the cards and their boards and coolers.

I will wait until I get that information to justify a purchase.

Although 1 grand is expensive for a card I would still not feel as mugged off as the time I had to buy new curtains for my house. Those things are a joke considering what you get.

It does appear that the prices have been pushed upward in terms of performance gains given last generation the 980ti was the one on par with 1070, not the 1080. With that said I chose the 2080 as it should handle everything I want it to quite nicely and I do not currently have a Pascal gen card. So my choice was between Pascal and Turing. There is no point complaining about much of anything yet as there isn't even reviews on the cards.

Pretty much my point above, even if you leave money behind then the chances are it'll just be given to some other corporation/company who have huge margins and not a care in the world for their customers.

LMAO,people tend to leave money for kids, primarily so they can help them to get onto the housing ladder, pay towards their further education, help towards a wedding, etc - that is what literally 90% of all parents I know have done.

.

Thats objectively not true. Not saying it entirely justifies the £1200 price, but a 2080ti costs quite a bit more to manufacture than a 980ti did.

Based on what out of interest? I'm purely speculating I'll admit but as an electronics engineer & PCB designer myself, I'm struggling to see how outside of a few bob here and there on component costs, they commend such a price hike other than profit margins?

Well when the world is in ruin and the only way to have a nice wedding is in VR, how gutted do you think they're going to be when they can't afford real-time ray tracing?

Honestly, you really need to think about what you're saying.

As I alluded to on the previous page, if you go off average life expectancy and age of parents at birth, why are 40-50 year olds needing money for houses and weddings? and say you had 2 parents on the average salary, with average living expenses then why would a GPU purchase every few years mean you couldn't leave behind a decent inheritance still? It's funny seeing the levels people will reach for having a go at people spending money on this hobby compared to others.

LOL. So does that mean JHH will be a god in this new ray traced virtual world order as he holds all the....graphics....cards?? :p

LMAO - I laughed out loud to this. A VR wedding with RT on would be amazing :D (need a RTX 2080Ti to run it smoothly though)

My old man is still going strong bless him and I'm 32, I got on the housing ladder on my own years ago and I'm still waiting for my handout the tight b...

lol, a VR wedding, just think of the possibilities. Then again, it's not much different to beer goggles.
