Geforce GTX1180/2080 Speculation thread

Yes, I seriously do. I never begrudge anyone getting anything they have worked for but reading some of the comments here makes me certainly feel that 'some' are very jealous, 'some' will genuinely not pay that much, 'some' have no interest in buying the 20xx series and 'some' are looking forward to it. Too many here are coming across as jealous for me but I expect a lot of self justification posts to ensue.
Well I guess in that case it's easy to write off anybody's complaints as jealousy and thus not have to acknowledge a single point they make.

I guess we should all be happy that prices are on the up-and-up, even if we're priced down a tier (or priced out altogether); or we end up seeing complete perf/$ stagnation (more perf=more $, each gen). If we are at all unhappy it must be because we're jealous of 2080 Ti owners (or "jealous" of people who can't wait to pay £600 for a xx70 card).

Oh well. I dare say you've got me slap bang in the "jealous" camp, for sure, given my vociferous posting about the exorbitant prices.

Overclocked 970/980/290/390 are still hanging strong in 1080p.

True. nVidia might have forecast this a few years ago and decided on a direction of 'features' instead of just pure performance. Especially with the likes of Gsync extending the life of a card so much now...

Hell, I'm finding that a 1060 with a few dropped settings is even more than fine at 1440p!! That's pretty impressive stuff imo.

It's a classic catch-22 tho isn't it.

Software won't be developed that won't look good on mainstream cards.
Mainstream cards won't improve if there's no "need" for more perf, due to software not demanding it.

Fun fact: I could write (theoretically) a game engine that absolutely destroyed a 1060 at 1080p, due to having a render distance that went all the way to the horizon (or much bigger for say a space sim), incredibly high-poly models, virtual super resolution, etc. Crytek did it once already ;)

Your bang on, it's all your reeked of since the reveal tbh. Read your own post's back, you'll smell it yourself.
What a surprising post from you.

I'm not all that bothered about an opinion originating from someone who can't use "your"/"you're" correctly, or make a post without inserting apostrophes in random, incorrect places. Speaks volumes.

My bang on? My reeked of? My own post's what?

I don't care anymore. In fact, i hope Nvidia wallet rape those buying the 2080Ti for the future 3XXX/4XXX series and price the Ti versions at £2K+ for a 5% increase. These consumers and their stupidity deserve it.

At least you're not bitter

If one doesn't like the price, then don't buy it. That's what i'm doing. I'm all for paying top dollar for great performance, but the 2XXX series just isn't it. Better off waiting until something to your liking shows up and let others get wallet raped.

The situation would be completely different if Nvidia came out and said, here is a £1K+ GPU, it's 90 to 100% better than the top tier previous gen, oh and you'll have RTX features too for future proofing. That would denote great performance and would justify the price of the hardware.

I get the feeling Nvidia are just pricing the 2XXX series high because they can just now. 2020 onwards will be more competitive for them with Intel/AMD GPUs and next gen consoles arriving, they know this so i think they're taking advantage of the issue as much as possible.

Lol, just buy them on MM when the price is right ^^

The cards look good, price is just offensive to me though. For those that can justify £1200+ on a DGPU than go for it. Keep it warm for me, I'll pick it up when you move on to the £2000 DGPU's next time xD

2nd hand prices are linked to new prices, ya know ;)

That 2080Ti 2nd hand will be ~£800. At least until it's 2-3 years old, then it'll be a snip at £600 :p

Backed into corner, truth discovered. Must attack grammar to deflect....

Completely subjective depending on a persons current GPU. The true wallet raper here is the 2080Ti for people currently with a 1080Ti. And i understand why they're not happy.

I'm afraid that's not how Moore's law works.

Looking forward to my V64 > 2080 upgrade. :p
