Geforce GTX1180/2080 Speculation thread

with this rtx fudging in the original show and the lack of rtx anything i think linus was spot on when he said its been pushed out early.

as for the prices i cant see them coming down to rrp anytime this year. as if people are happy enough to spend it the stores will keep on selling for it.

Prices will level off to where they should be once shops have them sitting on the shelves.

Until then, they’ll price them as high as they can on limited stock. There’s always someone willing to pay a premium to get it sooner unfortunately.
I don't see what the big rush to buy one is no ray tracing games.

It'll take a while for stock to filter in with decent numbers from the looks of it. A site i was on earlier when you put stuff into your basket for pre-order it told you how many they were expecting and how soon, it was mostly numbers of 3-4 cards from anything from 5 days to 2 weeks away.

I think for whatever reason supply is really low (like was with pascal) and this is why high prices are been pushed, generally you either go max margins route or max bulk sales, but if supply cannot meet the bulk sales which it looks like it would have no chance then you go the max profit margin route.

3-4 cards every 2 weeks per vendor is extremely low supply.

Not remotely interested in it at the minute. Can’t say I’ve ever been this unenthusiastic about a new gpu launch ever.

I’ll grab one but it will be in a few months once we have some stock and sensible prices.

Seems so rushed with no RTX features or DLSS to even test or use on launch. And hardly any stock either.

I don’t want RT, but I do want the rest of the Ti’s grunt for 4K.

In fact if the FE Ti’s were in stock I’d buy one but I waited until I’d seen reviews and they’ve been out of stock for weeks now.

It’s already more than I’d like to pay but it is what it is. I begrudge paying an impatience premium though so I’ll have to wait it out now.

It feels more like auctions.

At the minute if you want one it seems to be put in a preorder at the "cheaper" price and play the waiting game, or float around the sites during the day looking for stock. And most likely prepare to have your wallet spontaneously combust if you find one of the "brand name" cards in stock.

It just feels a bit daft shelling out for two year old tech. At the moment I'm probably going to wait and see what the 2070 performs like. It's a little pricier than I'd like...but I'd be happy enough paying 150 over the 500 EUR 'sensible' price if it gives me somewhere between 1080 and 1080ti performance, plus the RT and Tensor cores (I'm a game dev, and dabble in ML stuff, so it's useful to me outside playing games).

2070 won’t beat a 1080ti and will probably match a 1080.

I’ve had a 1070 since launch and have zero intent to move to Turing...It would be a very expensive sidegrade.

I asked in the CS section what the price discrepancy of £200 was about for the palit card between here and a competitor, no response so far.

I'm coming from a 970 though...and even falling somewhere between a 1080 and 1080ti would be tempting.

And besides, if I wait a couple of months, there's a chance AMD will surprise the world with a 1080ti beater for 300 quid in the meantime :D:cool:

I’m coming from a 970 to can’t wait to get my 2080ti..

I think I'd be more upset about still not having my 2080 ti if there were actually any games out to play on it, but the last couple of months have been dead
