I've got zero problem with community leaders as long as they aren't forced upon the community in question and they can give whatever advice they want and their community can take or leave it as they care, they don't vote en block because of foolishness but because of percieved similarities of concern just like every other community in the UK.

do you not find it slightly worrying that a member of a foreign government tis a community leader in the uk?

By 2018, 900,000 public sector workers will have lost their jobs.

So what, they can find a job in the private sector, its about time some of them did a decent days work

Those bullet points from Oxfam are terrible. I've been sharing a lot of articles on the Conservatives' economic cover-ups but those really push home the human impact. :(

TBH it just goes to show how weak a leader Ed is. I like the guy and he's got good ideas, but he had so much ammo going in to this election that he has completely failed to use. Instead he's allowed the Tories to choose the battlefield, and it's been left to grassroots activists and bloggers to fight Labour's corner. He's a decent stand-in for Brown, but he needs a Blair. I can't help but think Ed and Dave together would have been the way forward...

Funny post that :D

Why?

He might not be your cup of tea, but he has brought forward many ideas that are broadly popular with leftist voters.

As for ammo, just look at the state of the country. Economically, things might be looking up. But that has been delivered to the detriment of our society.

And the Brown comparison, I was referring to the not being very personable bit. Brown, much like Ed, was socially awkward and far from the Blair/Cameron/Clegg smooth talker type.

C4 news reporting that the unions are urging Ed Miliband to do a deal with the LibDems, offer them vote reform and trump anything the Cons can offer.

I'd like to see some proportional representation reform as I don't see how the current wards/seats represents the share of the vote. Percentage share of vote should equate to share of seats in parliament, then we could also have less MP's.

Labour's challenge is going to be offering a carrot so sweet that the remaining lefty Lib Dems are willing to push Nick Clegg aside to get it. I personally think it's possible to pull off - there's still a lot of people in the party who would be a lot more comfortable with a LAB/LIB coalition, regardless of what Nick says about who has the right to try and form a government first.

That would be beautiful.

I don't believe it would be acceptable to the country to have a fundamental change in our voting system without a referendum, however, and I'm not sure I can see them winning it.

Yeah the other side will just wheel out Cameron with his rolled up sleeves saying "golly gosh voting systems really gets my blood pumping"
