German Grand Prix 2010, Hockenheimring Circuit - Race 11/19

Whilst I'd love the F1 2010 game to be any good in terms of the driving aspect I fear it's going to be appalling, Codemasters don't exactly have a stellar reputation when it comes to accurate simulations (hell, Grid doesn't even manage to feel like you're driving the car, let along simulate it accurately)

They're not even letting you control the car in the pit lane...

On the other hand the bit that interests me about the game is the 'story' side of it, starting in a crap team and working your way up etc.

Back onto real life, those pictures are interesting, the Red Bull and Ferrari wings are definately flexing, be interesting to see whether McLaren/others actually protest it or just copy it?

Well, a precedent was set back in '07. Ferrari had to modify their floor when the flexing test for that part was changed thanks to McLaren somehow acquiring knowledge (;)) about a way that Ferrari were finding a grey area in the rulebook. I'm sure the FIA and stewards will now look at the wing test to see if it needs work.

In those photo's just look at the difference in general ride height between the Ferrari/Redbull's and Mclaren, I'd say that was a big factor too...

Clearly Ferrari have sussed how Redbull are getting lower ride heights without bottoming out on low fuel, as well as a little bit more wing flex..

Good lad. I'm not a fan of butchering or emasculating classic tracks. The old Hockenheim was a brilliant track. It annoys me that they've let it grow wild where the old track was. :(

they had to rip up the tarmac and plant trees it was one of the conditions of changing the track

This was from China, but is flexing more since this going by the pics above.

Low fuel will cause the ride height to rise surely?

Don't see the fuss myself, the Red Bulls will have passed the FIA wing flex tests and I'd be amazed if you couldn't do comparison videos or stills with most of the teams and see some flex.

They load the wings up and they will move, as long as it's within the requirements of the test they will be fine.

I think that in the past there have been other teams that had wings that flexed too much, the FIA test is a certain weight where it doesn't flex but a fast corner loads the wing more to the point it starts to flex.

And they are not allowed to have movable wings so I guess it it flexes it's illegal, or not?

Yes it would,

But we know from the season start, somehow Redbull seemed to be able to run low ride heights even with full fuel.. the speculations and rumours of some 'clever' mechanism seemed to have died a death, but when I saw those photo's not knowing the fuel states at that time, I wondered if ride heights where still another performance differentiator, or had the teams all sussed it out and done it themselves, or was it just hot-air?

Not a good move, especially as wmsc hasn't happened yet.

Ferrari boss slams F1 'hypocrisy' after Alonso win
Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo has slammed the "hypocrisy" of those who have criticised Fernando Alonso's victory in Sunday's German Grand Prix.

Ferrari have been fined $100,000 for appearing to give Felipe Massa a coded order to allow Alonso through to win and referred to F1's governing body.

But Montezemolo replied: "Enough of the hypocrisy. This has always happened."

"If one races for Ferrari, then the interests of the team come before those of the individual," he added.

Just like getting other teams data, like McLaren did. You weren't defending them though.
Rules are rules. Pretty much every underhanded thing happens in F1, don't get caught.

Why don't you and all the other teams get the rule removed. Is it because you will losse sponsors and supporters/.
