Maybe I missed something - I only listened to the audio commentary - but Bottas did have a go at passing Hamilton and failed, and it was only after that that team orders came through. I note that had Hamilton come second, he would still be leading the drivers' championship.

Yeah he had one attempt at it and Hamilton defended well and then it looks like the team orders came in pretty much right after
 
Great race for a change, a bit of rain certainly makes things interesting.

First stint by Hamiltion put him in contention.

I did not like the team order at the end though, thought it was unnessary.

Isn't the playback of radio messages delayed? So we can't be sure when, exactly, the order came?
 
Very unfortunate days for Ferrari :(
But what we learned is that Ferrari have the best car and if everything else equal, this zero point race for Sebastian won't change the outcome of the championship.
He is trailing by seventeen points which is exactly two races one-two Sebastian-Kimi and it will be cancelled.
 
Sebs interview post race:

"Well, I was in the barrier and realised I couldn't get out. How do you process that?

"I don't think it was a huge mistake. It's not like I will have huge difficulties sleeping tonight because I made a big mistake. We didn't need the rain.

"We have a strong car, so we can be as confident, more confident, than anybody else. It was one of those moments. My mistake. Apologise to the team. Small mistake, big disappointment. The tyres weren't fresh, but it was slippery for everyone."
 
How did gasley get 10th after being on wets at one point :D

Merc need to start thinking like ferrari if they want to win both championships. Ferrari will favour vettel merc will lose both if they let them race all the time.
