Gibbo is getting an R600!!

3DMk checks ALL PC hardware on startup (while the splash screen displays) so it could be any component in the rig causing the hang. You could try removing the sound card, and disconnecting any external/USB devices.

Hi there

OK its hanging because of the ATI card not been recognised. However adding a command line to avoid system info checking it loads. However its running 3D Mark but does this mean it now won't give a score because it does not know what the system is?

It should still give a score regardless, just prolly say graphics card unknown.

Four hits per second and counting... am bored and hitting the refresh!

Thanks for the information so far Gibbo, please stay within the NDA so you get more exclusives!

I should imagine you'd still get a score but should you post the results on the Futuremark ORB the graphics card would be listed as Unknown?

Best just see what it comes out with I guess?

Gibbo, would you be able to confirm Clockspeeds of this card or would that be under NDA as well?

It should give a score anyway. Older versions that don't require connecting to futuremark's website should definitely give a score.

well ATM nothing uses more than 512 to any effect anyways, but having said that I was expecting the 1024mb version.

I would imagine the memory amount/speed and GPU speed is all NDA material, so can you tell us which part of the AMD/ATi range this card is ?

Well if this isn't the most hilarious thing I have ever read from you. If anyone else said it, most sensible post ever. You saying it, God only knows what you're up to or what you really mean. :)

You hope R600 sucks, let's face it. If it turns out to suck, you'll be going through boxes of tissues and spreading your "joy" all over these forums for weeks on end. I think we all know you too well by now easy. ;)

Deal with it,

You like to think what suits you.Easy knows the truth.

Afterall I go through top end hardware like the wind.

Do you think I care who makes what?

I don't have time to worry who makes what.

I have more interesting things to do.

It will be a shame if the R600 is only on par with the GTX as I'm getting bored with this 8800 I yearn for some new fast hardware regardless of who makes it.

But I aint gonna buy a R600 if cards are out that are faster.

THATS JUST BEING A FANBOY
:D

I have to agree, a 6month wait for something which could be considered on par makes u think you made the right choice 6months ago surely? lol

I assume you've not read that its not the top end card he has yet the one he does have is on par\faster with the top end nvidia card? We dont even know if the sample has proper clockspeeds yet.

Hi there

Guys I cannot confirm card specifications or give out clock speeds, sorry guys but you will have to wait for that kind of info or until at least ATI give me the go ahead.

I expect those AMD/ATi Canada folk are watchin' this thread like hawks. :p

*waves*

Can this pointless schoolboy bickering stop ?

I amongst many others, would like as much info as we can get regarding this card, Gibbo has been lucky to get one to play with, and is doing his best, without breaking any NDA's, to give us any info he can.

Now can we just let him get on with it and post relevant questions and suggestions for him ?

As it probably got lost in the rest of the biickering, are you able to tell us were the card you have sits in the new range ? and how case or system temps compare to the GTX ?
Thanks :)

And bear in mind that the 8800GTX Gibbo has is an overclocked version.

Now if only there's a DX10 game available to bench... :(

We've waited this long it won't hurt to wait another couple of months when Crysis is out. :)
