@Gibbo - Vega Preorders?

Accurate statement is accurate. No one can argue with it - and you're 100% right. However, running in the 60s is not the same as max temp.
OK, but that statement also applies to subsystems. Eg, memory, VRMs.

Isn't it common in Eth mining to overclock the memory, running it at its thermal limit?

Ie the temp most people quote is the core temp, but the memory, VRM temps are just as important. A 24/7 overclock on the memory is going to reduce longevity of that subsystem.

It's a good point, well made - but it's not a factor that can't be managed. Like I've been saying for the past however many pages in a few threads about this; running high load isn't what's going to kill cards, heat is - but heat can be managed. The response I've getting can be boiled down to "HURRR 24/7 LOAD KILLZ CURDS! ERRY1 KNOW DIS!!!" Which has been frustrating to say the least, but now it seems we're getting somewhere and there's been an acknowledgement that the damaging factor is heat - so, progress :)
Yep, you can kill cards pretty quickly mining - if you mine like a **** and don't look after your equipment. The same can be said about pretty much any object that performs a task, I could kill my car pretty ******* quick by driving it - but it's not that driving kills cars, it's that driving like a **** and not looking after your vehicle will kill your car :p

I think the point most are making is that you are taking a much greater risk purchasing a used mining card compared to a used gaming card. Most people will not adjust their GPU from stock settings and a mining card left at stock and used 24/7 is much worse than a stock gaming card used for standard PC work with some gaming.

By "plenty" do you mean I'll be able to get more than 1 from you? ;) I'm not greedy. I only want 3 D:

I shall limit standard card to 3pc per customer, all special editions, watercooled etc shall be 1pc per customer. End of the day I want as many people to get a chance to grab one, playing it as fair as we can!

Gibbo do we know what is the official UK price for this or is this a secret ?

Sounds like stock is going to be good at launch. That's promising.

Aside from very obviously needing more time to work on drivers, the 2 week delay seems to have been a good thing.

If we actually see cards available to ship on Monday, then yes. A hard launch will definitely earn AMD and the resellers brownie points.

If it ends up as a pre-order with cards not shipping until e.g. September, that might be another matter.

Being able to buy and get parts for TR + Vega on "day one" would be amazing. No TR for me as I already got an R7 at launch and would need to sell it first.

This sounds promising for the stock. Is it just Reference AMD cards going up for pre-orders on the 14th or will se see some AIB partner board designs going live on this date as well?

I am thinking of the WC version.

Have 2x 290x 8gb vapor-x crossfire to sell on.
What would the gains be on WC vega 64.

I really don't understand how anyone can be mining and making a profit.
I had a quick look out of curiosity via a mining calculator and if it's correct a single card should turn you a profit of perhaps £2/day.

Maybe I'm missing something. Mining isn't my department.
Some people must be getting free electricity or something.

Profit per card can be low depending on set up and electricity costs. Higher grade and more efficient PSUs then help. £2/Day doesn't sound a lot but that's still £730 a year per card. most will be running 4+ cards so £2800+ so that's the cost of the rig paid back in 1 year or less. Then add in the increase of the crypocurrency that could triple over a day night or month.

If they have their **** together then they'll be scrambling to get Gibbo the necessary info so he can put pre-orders up. Sapphire are usually good in this respect.
