**Gigabyte Super OC GTX 480's - VERY LOW PRICES!**

Your probably right

But the fact that it wont work is bugging me now.
I get the following message:
"Initialization failed. Maybe you don't install the driver correctly!"

Plus all the power phaze LEDs are constantly on, even when the card auto downclocks to 51MHz.

I think the power LEDs are controlled by software / OC Guru.

Just to add, I bought a GTX 480 SE (the one with 3 fans).
I too noticed temps up at 60c, with 2 monitors attached. Even with the 2nd one off, it was still hot.
I disabled the 2nd monitor in NVs control panel and the temps plummeted to 44c.

All at out of the box settings for the card. No over clocking on it, and this is on an ASUS p5Q-E mobo, in a case with 2 front intake fans, one rear fan 2 fans in push/pull across Megahalems Big Beasty cooler, pushing air up to top vent and another large fan on top vent pushing heat out the case. - Antec 300 with good airflow.

Also noticed that the grill on the front of the case outside the drive bays, which are inline with the card got very warm to touch with the card at 60c. The rest of the case was cool. Disabled the monitor and the front is cool again.
I wonder if its components at the end of the card that are an issue?

Running a Corsair 750w psu

It's because idle speeds are much higher with 2 monitors attached. On my old 5850 it would take the memory speed too low when idle and make the second monitor flicker. It seems nvidia just decided to leave the memory speed at max when idle making it a lot hotter. It's not the most elegant solution but at least it works.

Amazed at the price on these now!! If I wasnt on air I would be more tempted to opt for SLi of these but I am affraid by them slightly. They are like a rocket strapped to roller skates?! You no you will get burned, but ever second before that would be amazing! GIEF MOAR POWER !!!

Hopefully the replacements are solid for you.

Received the 480 SE version yesterday. Couldn't be any happier with it!

Very quiet, good temperatures and far better performance from my old 48701 gb.
I'm gonna have a crack at overclocking it today.

I've seen some people down volting to 980v, is that fine?
Also what is safe highest temperatures? I got about 80C while playing Crysis 2 and Bad Company 2 with the fan at about 75%.

What are everyone's fan speed settings curves and temps with the SE?

That sounds a bit hot and loud to me at 700Mhz core, do you have good case cooling? what is the core voltage reading in GPUZ?

It's at 1.000 on GPU-Z. Running about 42C at idle with 45% fan speed.

Case cooling pic:

One intake antec tri-cool fan with medium at front bottom grill
One outake Sharkoon Silent Eagle
And PSU fan

As an update for you guys about what is happening with my card, I RMA'd it and it was found to be faulty. My only issue now is that I asked for a refund several times and was told I would receive one, and now i've been sent an email saying the replacement card has been dispatched. Anyone know what I'm supposed to now in order to get the refund, can I just refuse the parcel at the door for it to be returned to OCUK?

I would refuse the card and send a webnote to OCUK stating that you want a refund... failing them routes i'd call them :P

I sent a webnote this afternoon stating that I wanted a refund, so I'll probably just refuse the card at the door and see where it goes from there.

Just installed my GTX 480 SOC on my new build, turned on crysis and even on medium quality setting (@ 1920x1080) I'm getting artefacts on the screen and really bad tearing. Plenty of airflow in the case. I'm just downloading the latest drivers from Nvidia, anyone got any ideas?

Tearing just means you haven't got Vsync enabled.

Artefacts, well that's a different matter, and more than likely means your card isn't stable at the pre-clocked settings. :(

Crysis 2 makes my card hotter than any other game I play.

I'm running a custom fan profile, and Crysis 2 gets my card to 90C @ 70% fan.

Original Crysis gets to to about 87C @ 60% fan.

Pretty much everything else sits under 80C @ 50-55%.

Forgive my stupidity, this is my first build, and prior to running this game everything was going well! Where are the v-sync settings, as I can't find them on the game?

Options -> System -> Graphics

Under where you choose the res.

Assuming you mean original Crysis.

I've checked there, but that option isn't present. I'm guessing there must be some sort of patch for the game, I'll see if I can find it to download. Just a bit wary about making sure the card will work properly, given some of the issues people are having.

I've got a 1000w coolermaster psu with a single rail with up to 82 amps, so shouldn't be the psu. At the moment I only have the direct x that came with crysis, and it hasn't been patched to the latest version. Is it likely this might help address the issue?
