GOG , Good Old Games - Official Thread

Neil79, is it really necessary/mature to lock my thread? I posted it simply (as stated) so that people who dont read this thread could be made aware of it.

I locked your thread. It contained content already discussed in the main GoG thread. As already said, if every GoG had it's own thread, then the PCG forum would be over run with seperate titles. If you have a problem with any moderation decision then please contact either myself or any other moderator directly rather than posting your complaints over the boards.

Please keep this thread on topic.

Thank you.

Is RCT2 modded to run on Win7 x64 and higher screen resolutions?

Modded to run on Win 7 64 but as for higher res no, atleast you can only select the highest res in game. But that's ok as i can play RCT1 just fine on my 24"

id go with the original theme park, i had it on the playstation i believe but also got it for the PC on a DoS emulator, wasnt a fan of the newer Theme Park World or Theme Park INC.

i still just love the original!! reading through this forum has brought back some gaming classic memories, Tactical Ops: Assault on Terror for one!! I'm going to be looking in to the the new Tactical Assault now with a fair degree of anticipation!!

what about Dungeon Keeper 2, i was quite gutted thered was never a 3rd, Theme Hospital too, i pick that up every couple of years for a run through.

That also makes me think of Shenmue and why they never made a 3rd game. or why its never been ported to the 360 or PS3. ahhhh now i want to buy a dreamcast off ebay to play that again haha.

also a big fan of the early command and conquer games, Red Alert 2 and Tiberium Sun. i think they completely lost the plot after releasing "Generals" and im not a massive fan of Red Alert 3 if im honest. - but thats just me.

hmmmmm what else do I want to play that I havent seen in ages.

Wing Commander 1+2 is a pack containing the first two parts of the acclaimed space flight and combat simulator series by Origin. With this bundle you’ll get an introduction to the epic military conflict between The Confederation and the Kilrathi. Although the war between humans and Kilrathi has lasted for 20 years already, you're just making your presence. As a young pilot, straight from the academy, you’ll either become humanity’s biggest hero or the biggest zero as you're posted on Confederation's flagship - Tiger's Claw. With a cinematic approach to the storytelling and great 3D gameplay, the Wing Commander series is a must-have for every self-respecting gamer.

Dungeon Keeper 2 is Bullfrog’s second take on the masterpiece blend of real-time strategy with elements of sim, RPG and first person action game. Once again you take the role of the main Bad Guy. You have to build an underground empire, set deadly traps, recruit armies of brainless minions, and show the good-natured (bleh!) heroes where their place is: six feet under! And with even greater selection of traps and monsters it's now easier than ever. So train your army well (or slap them into submission) to expand your evil empire from the undergrounds to the realms above.

:D:D:D

Stumbled across this thread,

I have a really really good feeling they are going to do a bunch of bullfrog titles this week

Dungeon keeper 2 is on the website and if they have fixed the map editor (less crashy) it will be my absolute buy of the year, topped only by a possible theme park/hospital release

I would recomend it, 6 usd = barely half a bus ticket ffs!

Game developers could learn from those guys, its frigging bad when you get more excited about a 10 year old game rehash than the new stuff :P

DK2 yay

Last time I played it I turned off all advanced gfx options and run it @800x600(or was it 640x480?). It doesn't look as pretty but stability increases tenfold.

Still, I'm hoping the GOG version will run fine with the highest gfx settings.

This is indeed true. I own an orginal of the legendary DK2 but to get it to play I had to effectively download a cracked version. However one should point out that without an orginal install you will not be able to get dark angels in your single player campaign because the latest patch accidently removed them. This means you need the original files to copy back over to fix this problem.

Instead of just echoing complaints, did it not occur to you to try searching for fixes? A quick web search for "Dungeon Keeper 2 fix" brought up a useful link as the very first result (I won't post it here as it includes copy protection removal).

I have tried every fix listed from hours of google searching. Both original DK2, Sold out range DK2 and crack copys. All were just as unstable as each other.

I would have to use the quick save function frequently, if the job queue got too large it usually crashed the game. Also as the maps got larger and the enemy numbers increased the stability of the game greatly reduced.

If GOG haven't tackled any of these issues then what is the point of the release?
