GOG , Good Old Games - Official Thread

Personally waiting for System shock to come on as well as theme hospital.

Do love GOG, picked up a few and will definately be picking up dungeon keeper 2

Instead of just echoing complaints, did it not occur to you to try searching for fixes? A quick web search for "Dungeon Keeper 2 fix" brought up a useful link as the very first result (I won't post it here as it includes copy protection removal).

Did it ever occur to you that I didn't actually buy the game yet? and i'm just echoing the many complaints that gog should not have sold a product in this state?. Gog sell old games that have been tested and made to work on all systems, in this case they haven't done that just sold it as is.

Ultima 1: The First Age of Darkness requires you to battle the Dark Wizard Mondain and his minions who seek the destruction of Sosaria. You must face the evil master and his creatures, and make him retreat to his evil lair where you will ultimately destroy him and save the kingdoms of Sosaria!
Ultima 2: Revenge of the Enchantress picks up on the story of the first installment in the series. Minax, an apprentice of Mondain reigns terror and destruction on the land of Sosaria. Blinded by her fury, she has torn the fabric of time and space which resulted in portals opening through the kingdoms. It's your duty to stop her and undo her evil deeds!
Ultima 3: Exodus let’s you travel throughout Sosaria with a group of adventurers rather than on your own. It also features large, detailed locations with many characters to talk to. Discover the famous Yew city and travel through moon-gates to face the spiritual child of Mondain and Minax. Defeat the titular Exodus and save the kingdoms of Sosaria once again.

Ultima 4: Quest of the Avatar is a milestone in not only the Ultima franchise, but in the Role-Playing Games genre as a whole. You start as an average character, neither a scoundrel nor a saint. After defeating the Triad of Evil (Mondain, Minax and Exodus), Sosaria has changed beyond recognition. The benevolent monarch Lord British proclaimed the Eight Virtues (Honesty, Compassion, Valor, Justice, Sacrifice, Honor, Spirituality, and Humility) as a moral foundation of the new land, united under the banner of Britannia. This time there is no ultimate bad guy you need to kill after leveling your character to the max. This time it’s different. Your quest is to become the Avatar, a real role model for the people of Britannia. Become one with the Eight Virtues with your actions and words. As you live the life of a potential hero you discover that every action you undertake influences your level in each of the Virtues. Flee from battle and your Valor decreases, overpay a blind seller and you gain Compassion points. Even in modern times the concept of Ultima 4: Quest of the Avatar is unique. Even if the graphics aged, this is a prime example of a gaming masterpiece!

We present you Populous, the foray for the popular “god-sim” trilogy and a solid base for future Peter Molyneux games in that genre. You play as an omnipresent deity in a celestial game of conquest against other gods. Each one of you start with a single human in the middle of nowhere. As a supernatural power, you can lower and raise land as you wish, through these various terraforming activities you will have to nurture this one man into a powerful civilization capable of giving birth to noble heroes. Once the leader of your followers becomes a champion, you can make him engage in a holy war with the heretics. Use your godly powers to wreck epic mayhem upon your enemies, burn them, drown them, and make them suffer. But be wary that other gods have the same tools available to their disposal, so be aggressive and remember that confrontation is the only way to win. The final outcome is all that matters in this god vs god game of world domination. In the end there’s only 500 more worlds to conquer ;)

I was going to see what other new games listed on GoG site, but its really slow and not fully loading.

At least if they have Populous then hopefully Populous 2 is due soon. No idea what the audio was like in game for PC version though.

Nox is an isometric action-RPG mix from the masters at the famous Westwood Studios. You are Jack Mower, an ordinary guy living his ordinary life. But one day, due to a cosmic accident and the actions by the evil Queen of Necromancers, you're being sucked out of this universe by your own TV and transferred to a fantasy parallel universe called Nox. We're not sure, but we think the moral of Nox is "Don't watch too much TV." Who says gaming doesn't spread positive messages?

:eek::eek:

Ultima 4: Quest of the Avatar is already released and available for free on GOG.com. You can read the description of the game in the previous news post. Why is it included in this game pack? Well, the Ultima series breaks down into three trilogies, and it seemed a shame to break up the lovely symmetry.

Ultima 5: Warriors of Destiny picks up on the story of the Avatar, the hero of Britannia. The country’s benevolent monarch is nowhere to be found, and an usurper named Lord Blackthorn has claimed the throne! It’s your duty as the embodiment of the Eight Virtues to make all wrongs right and recover the world of Britannia from the paws of Blackthorn and his three evil Shadowlords! This installation of the Ultima series expands on the world of Ultima 4 in a number of ways: towns are larger, have more unique buildings, and NPC interaction has evolved. With enhanced dialogues, diverse conversation topics, and a diverse array of characters, Ultima V shows that Lord British kept raising the bar for games looking to call themselves an “RPG.” The day and night cycle affects the gameplay. For example you can’t shop at night because the NPC shopkeepers are asleep! Delve into the world of Britannia and save its inhabitants & moral codex!

Ultima 6: The False Prophet starts out with a bang! You, the Avatar, are captured by demons, imprisoned, and ready to be sacrificed on an altar. Like in all those Hollywood movies, in the nick of time your friends from earlier adventures come in guns a-blazing to save you! You learn that those demon-like creatures are gargoyles, a new race that invaded Britannia and have seized the shrines of Virtue. As you venture forth on your next adventure as the Avatar, you try to understand the true motivations of gargoyles. As the embodiment of the Eight Virtues, the Avatar will understand that his mission is to establish peace and make the two races coexist in Britannia peacefully. Ultima 6 is a one of a kind game which, without over imposing it on the player, tells a story of the evil of human prejudice and ignorance. This is where the motto of Origin Systems, “We create worlds”, is best visible and it really steps up to its name!

With the budget of an A-grade Hollywood movie, Wing Commander 3 incorporates FMVs on a whole new level, with more than 3 hours of cinematic storytelling. They’re not there only for your viewing pleasure: you get to live the life of a Confederation ace pilot in dynamic cinematic style. Time-constrained decisions, vast dialogue options, and plot-critical conversations all occur on film during your time aboard the TCS Victory. Apart from the flashy movies, Wing Commander 3 has a whole new space combat engine. Sprites are so early 90’s, and now it’s all about polygons. Behold the colossal battle ships in their full glory, you can even fly into a dreadnought hangar and shoot it from inside out!
:D

Yikes, that looked soooo much better in my memory :)

Edit - ah wait, I'm thinking of Wing Commander Prophecy. Which looks quite a bit better even now.

With the release of Star Control 3 for just $5.99 we're completing the trilogy of this one of a kind mix of action, adventure and strategy game genres. Once again you're off to a great journey through the Kessari Quadrant to unravel a deadly secret, stop the mysterious Eternal Ones, and save the whole universe from extermination. Commanding your fleet of space battleships you're going to explore the enormous universe and build colonies on newly discovered planets, use your diplomacy skills to negotiate alliances with more than 20 alien races, and (if that fails) you're going to enter the Hyper Melee Combat with a whole new "almost-3D" view.

Dammit, I have paid for all these now!

Blood
Screamer

Total annihilation
Big race usa pinball
Unreal Tournament GOTY

TA is like Supreme commander on roids with worse graphics. Miles better gameplay though. There were so many different unit/structure types and I was only at tier 1
