Putting:

Been having a mare since I bought my taylormade putter (Golf Classic Smoked 79 Putter).

Read some tips online yesterday about amending grip and using index fingers to counter-act the wrist break and my putting is back to its old self! The connection, sound and roll is 100% better.

Insanely annoying how 2 minutes of reading can fix a few months of annoyance :eek:

Who's watching the Masters next week and who's you bets on?

I've got:

- Rose
- Schwartzel
- Kuchar
- Garcia

£10 on each... around £200-£600 return if either of them wins or the inevitable £40 loss

Didn't fancy the favourites, to make it more interesting!

Woods for me, big time. he's due a win at the masters and is playing well. Also the other players are now aware of his "presence" again and this counts for a lot!

Outsiders will be Rose and a few others. Will see what this weeks brings at the Texas Open and who's playing well etc

There's a little friendly comp on a golf forum i frequent about picking 3 players for each major, picking each player only once. My picks were:

The Masters - Tiger Woods, Louis Oosthuizen, Ian Poulter
The US Open - Rory McIlroy, Phil Mickelson, Sergio Garcia
The Open - Lee Westwood, Padraig Harrington, Justin Rose
The PGA Championship - Bubba Watson, Luke Donald, Robert Garrigus

So I bought an R1 driver this week, my old R11 was starting to get a little worse for wear. Seems to have added a few yards to my game. Love TM drivers

Talking of drivers. I brought the VRS Tour on Saturday and it's fantastic. Smaller head (430cc) then my previous r11s but due to that goes a lot straighter and at least the same distance if not further.

Just need to sell the old driver to get some money back now haha.

Shot my personal best of 79 in a competition on Saturday. Playing off my handicap of 16 that is 8 under par so I was very happy! Unfortunately it wasn't strokeplay. It was bogey golf, and at the time I left the course with a few groups left I was in around 5th place.

Makes such a difference playing when the weather is so good

Thanks! My driving was still pretty poor so I was really pleased to have recovered well on many holes.

I can't help but push it right or slice it. All my other clubs in the bag I hit straight. I've been doing my best to stop coming over the top in my downswing and it has straightened up everything but the driver. I haven't had the bravery to try the 3 wood yet but I'm pretty sure it would be the same as the driver...

My instructor is away until June too so it is a problem I'm going to have to try and solve on my own for now

I found this before, but in the last few months i've increased my backswing and my driver goes like an absolute missile when it connects. I only play off a +24 handicap, so it helps me out a lot.

Your short game must be dreadful if you're consistently bombing 350+ yard drives straight down the middle!

haha it goes far, but that was a 1 off! Down wind and as you can see, if you get it past the slope, it will carry far
