Golf Thread

Played my first full round on Thursday with my dad I hit 142 on a 72, I was content with my front 9 knowing that I am really pap with a driver, I was hitting it ok. The back 9 it all fell to bits, lost 3 balls off the tee on the 12th and then lost a ball on the fairway on the same hole, after that I got the jitters and had a mini melt down for 4 holes, 17th and 18th went very well, typically!

Looking forward to playing much more this year!
 
Still not hit a ball yet and now damaged my ribs at the weekend. Gleneagles in 3 weeks time ain't going to be fun if I haven't hit a ball in 6 months!

Ditch the driver and use your 3 wood instead. Your driving and confidence off the tee will improve.

Easy win in the end. No-one challenged him and Ricky Fowler had a mare again! At last year's Memorial he was paired with Tiger on the last day and shot 84 to Tiger's 67. Today he did much better only losing three shots on the day but when he needed to put pressure on he couldn't do it. On 13 with Tiger on the green but a long way from the flag, Ricky was outside him and on 16 with Tiger in a bunker and Ricky on the fairway he dumped it in the water, not once but twice! Just when he'd started to exert a little pressure and got within two.

Tiger's had an easy ride in his three wins so far. Don't think he can win the Masters as he will not get such capitulation from the best players in the world.
 
Question is who is going to beat him?? At the moment no one else is exact in form! Mickleson missed the cut and mcilroy is a bit unknown this year apart from one decent round. Stricken and bubba etc are not firing. I think woods will win the masters simply because all the other players are out of form.

I've got bets on these guys to win the masters:

- Rose
- Kuchar
- Garcia
- Schwartzel

Didn't want to go for the favourites and this lot are doing well this year. All good drivers of the ball (masters typically a long course). Also Rose @ 24/1 couldn't be missed and he would have won yesterday, had he not capitulated his 3rd round!

Interesting to see what happens in the tourney before the Masters, however. With the way Woods is playing, you just can't write him off though!

Hey guys, dangerous coming in here I suspect as it will make me want to get into Golf. I play golf very occasionally. My bro is into it much more. I typically tend to go down the range with him or sometimes play a pitch and putt.
He just went and got fitted for a driver and told me that he tried a Callaway Razr Hawk (or something) and it was ok, then he tried the R1 and fluffed a couple of shots and could not get on with it, then he tried the Cobra AMP and he said it suited him really well. He's now in love with Golf as his old driver was nearly ten years old and obviously technology has moved on.
I must admit it is quite satisfying when you ping a driver straight and far. :)

We would all love to be able to do that mate. Happens on occasion haha.

RE. Tiger - He is hot favourite to win the Masters and I will tell you why he hasn't been challenged when going into the Final round he his 3 events this year. They already know he has won it. They go out there and try but ultimately they know they are playing for second. He is World Number 1 which he truly deserves and is the best golfer on the planet right now and I believe that will continue for some time to come.

Rory doesn't seem to have any motivation to play right now more interested in watching his girlfriend play tennis and when he does play he doesn't have the ability to grind out a score when he is playing poorly. He has the talent certainly but not strong on the mental side of the game.
 
I know most people will bash my next sentence but you can do a lot worse than the new Dunlop nz9 range. The Dunlop of late has typically been cheap tat but they are really pushing to further their brand, starting with the nz9 range. You get a grafalloy shaft in the woods and true temper shafts in the irons and wedges, both of which are excellent considering you can get a 3 wood for £14.99. The nz9 driver even got a great review from today's golfer.

Have a look in your local sports direct or on their website as that's where I picked mine up from.

Looks like he did and took back his number one spot in the world ranking from Rory. Although victory for Rory tommorrow puts him back in the number one spot.

Tiger is starting to look like his old self and wouldnt be surprised if hes odds on fave to win the masters in a couple of weeks time.

You mean Sunday right?! :p

Has any one used one of these new VRS fairway woods yet? I am after a 5 wood and the VRS looks good but can only find it in a regular shaft :/
