I'm going there in 2 weeks and am not sure whether to be excited or not now! :-(

Which tees did you play off and what score did you get round in before and after handicap?

Played off the yellow. 6400 or so off them. Didn't score my round as it was first game in 6 months. Not trying to put a downer on it by any means but was expecting a bit more, something really special excluding the condition which I can understand due to weather and work on the course but was just disappointed by the course overall. I've played the kings course 3 times and every hole is superb. Just can't see the Ryder Cup being played there, it's just lacking that special feeling for me.

Will be interesting to see what your thoughts are on the course and condition etc.

Back to the Masters - Still hoping for a clinic from Woods but I think he'll need 66 or something to win (£50 @ 4/1 from the start). Going for a last minute punt on Kuchar @ 12/1 and Cabrera who is still 5/1!

Just me in here - Amazing scenes on the 18th - what a finish. Play off time. Cabrera win for me hopefully (money on him at the start of today @ 5's!)

Great weekend of Golf!

None of my bets came in unfortunately, but they didn't do too bad:

Garcia - got my hopes up, faded and then came back strong
Kuchar - steady and was right up there, but didn't do anything on the last day
Rose - looked hopefully at one point, but faded
Schwartzel - didn't have a great time out there and faded fast on the last 2 rounds!

Highlights for me:

1) Woods unreal luck with 'that' shot
2) Jason Day bunker shot yesterday... unreal! His putting in general was just awesome
3) Guan
4) Dustin Johnson's hero to zero.. that guy can seriously hit it.
5) Cabrera's 2nd shot at 18th yesterday.. crowd reaction was epic. His swearing on camera was hilarious :p
6) Woods birdie putt that rolled 360 and went out!

loads more, but those are the one's that spring to mind

Only managed to start watching from about 9pm last night but really enjoyed what I did see of the Masters.

Have booked in some golf lessons now so that I can start getting some golf played, looking forward to it.

If you understand the rules (inc the newer 33.x) you will see that they could do this, regardless of how unpalatable you find it.

1. Its not a game, its a professional sport.
2.He declared it, the world hadnt even noticed.
3. He gained no advantage and took the ruling on the chin.

He admitted to gaining an advantage by claiming the ground wasn't very good at his drop site and that he moved the ball back 2yrds so that he wouldn't risk hitting the flag again and would have a more ideal distance.

The moment he dropped the ball in a different spot he incurred a 2 shot penalty whether he realised it or not, the moment he signed his scorecard without registering the 2 shot penalty he was disqualified. The rule clearly states that ignorance of the rules is no excuse. The rule which was (ab)used to keep him in the tournament was introduced for cases where the slo mo cameras catches the ball moving without the playing knowing.

Am hoping to get out for a round this weekend, playing 2 rounds at the Essex golf and country club over the May bank holiday and desperately need the practice! anyone played there before?

No never played it, but I am looking forward to playing this weekend. At last we have some half decent weather forecast without 5000mph winds! :)
