this afternoons pairings are fail for europe,
rose should have gone with stenson again, why not? they've been a great pairing so far
and having mcllroy with garcia has already proved to = fail, why play them together again?
my prediction is that these pairings will cost europe the RC

Stenson also said that with his back issues he could only play one round in the day.

McDowell can't putt to save his life this morning, Rose has started slow as well. We still only need 4.5pts though should be easy with our team

Every 2 years I watch the Ryder Cup and it's far scarier than Doctor Who could ever dream of. I have to watch it through my fingers at times :D

From Facebook last night, made me laugh. :D

A classic for those who know my brother *******. Chilling in the Gleneagles clubhouse this evening as the teams have their meetings to set the Sunday pairings. Fire alarm goes off and EVERYONE has to evacuate. We end up stood by Tom Watson's USA buggy in the car park.
Tom Watson: what happened, nobody was smokin' in there were they?
*******: Only Rosey's putter, Tom.

It's a fantastic event live with all the drama that goes with it.

What about Phil Mickelson throwing his toys out and having a go at captain Tom Watson. :D

There is no bigger **** in golf if you ask me. Phil Mickelson I'm talking about.

I absolutely *loved* Mclroy's "At least we're not wanted by the FBI" come back to Mickelson's litigation "joke". :D

Didn't watch nearly enough this weekend, disappointed in myself. I'm now browsing eBay for a new driver, the Ping G5 is remarkably cheap considering it's a few years old. For the sake of ~£30 it might be worth a punt.

^^ its hard to buy brand new kit when you see how little it costs second hand,
around 14-15 years ago i paid just shy of £2k for my clubs and bag, everything bar the scotty cameron tel3 putter would cost me more to post than what id get for it these days,
EDIT:... even the scotty wouldnt sell for much unless i got it refurb'd..

paid £180 for that ~15 years ago, wished i'd looked after it a bit better, the blotchy looking loss of paint on the bottom is from forgetting to dry it untill the day after playing a round in the rain :/

Guys am I being ridiculous

Ive been playing 3 years. My current handicap is 16.8 although i did very briefly get down to 16.4 last year. This year ive pretty consistently played to my handicap in comps ive had 3 blow up rounds this year where ive got .1 back not nr's just bad rounds the rest of played to around or within the bz.

My problem is im really dissapointed. Last weekend I did 36 points finished 5th in the division with 5 dbs all mostly caused by poor tee shots I had 11 points after 8 holes, and its starting to get me down. I should be dropping 40 points easy week in weeks out ive not been cut once this year and its really frustrating ive even been considering stopping playing for a while.

Need some motivation to keep going and push through this really

Think of it this way - 36 point is playing to your handicap. Look at the scores in the competition and almost certainly 90% plus of the people playing will NOT play to their handicap.

If you play to your handicap or under and get cut say - 5 or 6 times a year - that's pretty decent. If your improving under coaching/practise etc I would expect that to be 8-9 times a year.

Don't beat yourself up - golf is 90% mental attitude. Focus on where your "blowing" up - is it just the t shots? If so - instead of hitting driver, try hitting 3 wood off the tee etc. Hit an iron to keep it in play - don't fall into the trap of needing to hit driver on every longer hole.

Take the 4th at my club. Par 4, 420 yards, bunkers all over the place at around 250/260 yards. I used to stand up and try for years to blast driver over the bunker, yes it leaves a 5/6/7 iron to the green if you clear them. But that was maybe 3 times in 10 I cleared them. It would be in the bunkers the other 7 times.

I now tend to hit 3 wood/recovery shot of them and then another lofted recovery club to the green and more often than not I have at least 1 putt if not 2 for par.

Focus on what you do well - not what you do badly and you will be surprised at how much you improve

Does anyone have much experience with the Callaway X2 range? Seriously considering the X2 Hot driver and a set of irons.
