Golf Thread

Came Down is on our list of reciprocals I think so yeah we could do something. Are you a member there then? What do you play off?

Is Knighton Heath nice? There are some great courses around Dorset and Hampshire but some of them are pretty expensive. I'm looking into becoming a member somewhere rather than being a golfing 'nomad' but some are so pricey - Ferndown, Remedy Oak, Parkstone and Broadstone being examples of this. I've only ever played middle of the road type courses like Moors Valley, Crane Valley, Canford Magna, etc.

Knighton is a brilliant course very tight though its not a hackers course definitely a thinking mans plot.

Theres a lot of offers on at the moment. Do you have any instant msg or something I will happily get you a game if you want

Yeah Stuie been a member here for about 18 months (when I started to take golf more seriouly) I play off 28 normally but that'll improve fairly quickly.

I recently moved down to the New Forest (Barton on Sea) - so far only managed to play at Parley Golf centre but heard good things about Canford Magna - turf driving range is a big plus for me :)

Playing again tomorrow, need to focus on my swing coming round the body rather over the top which is the reason for my dreaded fade!

I appreciate the offer stuie, I might well take you up on the offer in the new year. Golf is having to take a back seat at the moment and I'd want to be in reasonably good form before playing a tricky course like that!

Canford Magna is nice, there are three courses there. I've only played the parkland course, which is the main one, but I enjoyed it. From what I remember it's fun and interesting without being too challenging.

Picked up the new bag the other day. Must say I am very pleased with it. Very light and looks great. Legs can be locked away for trolley use too:

Shot another round of 90 today, could have done so much better in places few duff shots here n there but overall at least I'm going to lower my handicap and hopefully gain consistancy!

Nice one esk, I went round in 102 last week for my final round of the year which is better. Hoping to break 100 by the spring :)

Had my first birdie yesterday on a par 4. Drive was a bit dodgy which left me with a 4 iron to the green. Somehow managed to play a perfect draw and rolled onto the green 6ft from the hole. Putt was nerve wracking but it went in. Just need a birdie on a par 5 now.

Last competition of the year on Thursday the mens monthly Stableford, hoping I can continue my current form and put in a good score, will hit the range tomorrow night to limber up and practice keeping my driver nice and straight.

Regularly about 18 months or so, where abouts in Dorset are you? I'm in Weymouth myself.

Played Weymouth on a reciprocal wednesday back to back birdies on 13 and 14 felt like Rory. Was impressed with the course greens were rolling really nice

Yeah Weymouth is a nice course, can be quite tight at times mind you. If the weather gets up can make it a bit of a bugger if you go above the tree line.
