Had a bit of breakthrough lesson on Saturday. We've been working on stance and iron work the previous 3 lessons and he felt comfortable enough with my position to move onto grip and big sticks this week.

Changed my 'Cricketers' grips into something more favorable and picked up my 3 wood, a club I've always detested swinging. By the end of the hour I was bombing 240s with a 'natural' fade off the tee. He said half of my issue was ironically being too leisurely with my down swing and not going for it, giving my wrists too much time to pull and my hips no need to turn. Went to the range yesterday evening and whilst I did my usual of falling off a little towards the end of the session, it was a lot more consistent then it's ever been with little no topping of the ball and very few slices. Brought my top tracer averages up quite nicely.

Got another lesson in a few weeks to see if it's all baked in, then we move onto Driver...

Also, has anyone used golfbidder to sell clubs in the past? I've decided I'm not that big on my G25s and was just wonder if I'd get a relatively decent price for them.

Golfbidder or Replay Golf are good. Round the corner from me so I pop in quiet regularly.

Sometimes you get a good price, sometimes it's not great.

Booked at Calderfield next Monday morning for a round. First a the few scorecards I'm going to keep to put towards my handicap. Will let you know @magicroundabout what condition the course is in :)

Really could do with a new Driver going forward. Wish I'd jumped on that PXG deal whilst it was still a thing.

Can anyone recommend me something second hand? Not going to have more then £150-200 to play with. Not looking for anything flashy, just something reliable that I can practice with until I can justify spending a little more.

I think the 'new' PXG 211 driver is £229 so not much more than your budget?

I've thought the same, both in wanting a new Driver but also about not going for the PXG! But then I only hit it 13 times on the course I played last and even then I know if I hit it well I can get a decent shot out of it so it's more me than the club for the most of the 'issues' :p

Today I went and joined my local club, they do a pro-rata thing so 8 months membership from today came in at £320 basically, now just need to find some time between the rain to get out and play constantly to get the value out of it  realistically if I average 1 9-hole round a week it works out and that's without counting the England Golf Handicap and County Card stuff :)

But also suffering a bit from an 'injury', so it started as feeling like a stitch during a round the Sunday before last and because of that I rested from then until Friday. The soreness/pain seems to be in the ribs on the right side and clearly something to do with swinging but I think it was actually pulling a trolley around (and maybe doing back-to-back days of 18 holes), thought it was 'ok' until Friday but it was still quite sore and by the end of 18 holes it was starting to get painful. Again thought it had felt pretty good over the weekend but just 20 balls on the range today and it's back. Really annoying, kinda don't want to just stop golf for X weeks but at the same time think it was affecting my play on Friday so meh...

Off to The Astbury next week with work - anyone played there before?
Couple rubbish photos I took. I'm no photographer

The Astbury is roughly 45mins from myself and have played there a couple of times. Some lovely holes. Obviously the 18th is the signature hole.

Course will be in fantastic condition regardless of the weather. Great drainage.

Don't forget Scottsdale Golf offer 5% off your first order and with the new Cobra drivers @ £349 totals: £331.

They also offer 0% APR if that makes things easier

Range session tonight to bake in the new grip and have a few swings with the long clubs. Finally feeling some form of consistency creep into my game. Distances with each club are becoming more and more reliable and my slice has disappeared. Finding the only area still really lacking is the mid clubs. 5 and 6 are really spotty, maybe just that awkward club length? Thinking about picking up a few hybrids to fill that gap for the time being as ever since last week's lesson I've been performing really well with my 3 and 5 Woods.

Weather looks bloody miserable for tomorrow morning. A shame as I haven't played for weeks and would have liked a round before Monday which looks equally grim by the forecast...

Might just go ahead with it anyway. Give me a chance to break in the waterproofs this year.

Haven't played for a few months due to having a bit of an issue with my back but went to the range yesterday and wish I never bothered. Got this draw on almost all my irons that I can't seem to rectify. Tried different ball positions and changed my grip but nothing seems to solve it :(

Wonder if my swing has changed because it's manage to counteract the fade I always hit with my driver! :D

Played today and the weather was lovely, really nice morning out :)

Shame the golf wasn't great :p first time scoring it with MyEG for the handicap stuffs and I scored 126 (the app knocked that down to 125), think it was largely down to a really awful first ~3 holes, after that seemed 'ok'. Hit some great shots though, long drives, nice chips onto the green and kinda mixed was on the last hole I hit a hybrid miles further than expected, unfortunately that was towards the group ahead on the green  Didn't hit anyone but felt awful as it ended right at the back of the green (annoyingly the flag was close to the front) so I went up an apologised for being 'that guy'...

I was a bit worried beforehand with my ribs as well but although I can still feel something is wrong it didn't hurt whilst playing which was nice, I was almost beginning to think I might need to take a few weeks off but think I'm good now :)

Shame the weather for Sunday looks decidedly meh.

We've all been there with regards dangerous looking fores. Been on the receiving end of them as well, I'm sure.

Only time I've ever been genuinely angry about one is when a ball whistled past my brothers head and clipped his ear. No fore call heard. Guy runs over and starts to apologize, saying he didn't see us on the tee box (it was fair right of the closest green he was playing to) and that he thought he didn't have to shout. Went absolutely spare at him. Always hated that mentality some golfers have. Surely it's on you to shout if you hit a wild shot into a blind area, whether you know there's players there or not??

Glad there's good weather about elsewhere. Here in Sussex over the past week its been rain of biblical proportions, bar Friday, with no end in sight. Imagine all the local courses will be severely waterlogged :(

7 temp greens on my course this morning, not that it mattered to me, I missed them all by a country mile anyway.
