nice. Yeah, I dont think the wedge fitting is quite as essential as The irons, and wasn’t going to get new wedges but I was already in the net so..

are you thinking of going back to the Titleist‘s soon then?

no - no change in wedges - I like them, nothing to complain about they are very nice wedges the T22's. Just played for years with Vokeys before them and have always found them to be lovely.

Beat my record at my friends GC, GreenMeadows near Newport. Shot 85, but felt like I left so much out there.

Looking back at my stats and remembering my putts, I missed the cup by around an inch, for about 8 putts, as far as I can recall. If I was having a lucky day, I could have been 8 shots better off in an extreme world, soplenty of room to improve on my putting! 36 putts overall, so not the end of the world though.

I also had 3 penalties in total. One for trying to swing out of my brains off the first long par 5, on the 2nd hole... in the cold, with no warmup. Recipe for disaster to say the least :p By the pickup on the 2nd, I had already mentally given up on a good score :) little did I know, I was still in for a good round!

44% GIR
Driving average down to 222y, with only 1 hook - which was nice!
0 birdies, 9 Pars, which is my best total so far, scored pretty low with a couple of 8s and 7s that I thought would break the card.

More positives though, only 3 weeks left at my awful course, before I start at my new club!

I've just been upto my local American golf to try the new fairway woods.

I'm not getting the results I want from my 5 wood so it's going. I'm averaging better numbers with my 4 hybrid so went to look at a 3 wood.
First off after warming up I hit my driver so we could look at gapping. Averaged 268y carry with a roll out to 285+. Did hit one sweet at 278carry which rolled out to 301y. I doubt I'll get this in real world but nice all the same.

So first tried Cobra Aerojet. Max and Standard. Was averaging carry around 222y which is similar to my hybrid (212y). Consistency was good and the shaft was lovely. MCA Kai'li Blue 60 in X-Flex. Then tried the Paradym standard but with a stiff flexProjext X Hzrdus Gen 4 Silver 60g. He said we could get it in X-Flex but looking they only do it in Stiff. The Project X Hzrdus Gen 4 Black 70g shaft is in X-Flex. They didn't have this so I could't compare. They tried to tell me I would't notice much difference but I said I can't buy a club without trying the shaft first. Carry numbers though with just a stiff shaft went upto 235y. but desperation wasn't great left to right. Stiff shaft felt quite whippy. Said I wanted to try an X-Flex but they didn't have one. Didn't try anything else unfortunately as time was limited.
Also I was put off by the sales guy. Quite arrogant really.

I think I'm going to go back to either Scottsdale Golf and get fitting with them as their array of shafts etc is just brilliant or back to Three Hammers.
Either way for gapping I need a 3 wood.

yes mate, thats the ones! bargain really!

they are nice, decent quality shoes. They are a little tight to get on through the initial slip-on, but once on they are comfortable and snug.

I went for the 11.5 as I am either that or an 11, it depend on the shoe really. But these Pumas are quite wide fitting which is nice, they are a good size for me.

Also, for piece of mind @booyaka i know you will know you can return them anyways, that was my thoughts, and why I pulled the "trigger" blind testing them.

Mine arrived - probably too big - nice fit across the shoe with the Boa lacing, but far too much room in the toes for me. Shame as they are very nice

Back to £94 as well on Amazon...

I've found this so much, the time I give up on scoring well is the point I start playing 'ok', it seems crazy how much mindset affects golf...

yeah, soon as a handicap is mentioned, **** hits the fan!

strange, i found my American Golf advisor really, really sound. not pushy with the sales etc, possibly part reason I upgraded, as he just wanted "the best fit" for me.

ahh man, that sucks, they are nice tough arent they!

Yeah, seen that, should have bought a couple more before the price change!

I've read a lot that American Golf stores, or more the sales staff, vary massively in how they act, with some being overly pushy that magicroundabout seems to have encountered :/

I've only had a limited experience at my local AG (Bristol), I was looking at shoes at the time, and he was really helpful and not at all pushy.

yeah they do vary massively. Thankfully AG at Three Hammers is the opposite. They're really helpful.

Another game of golf today, this time at the 'harder' Masters course at Woodlands, went in at least trying to have zero expectations and I think I managed it really so of course I played pretty well :p

Course was long/hard today, as seems to be the theme from Sundays, on Friday they generally have 'easier'/shorter tee positions but a couple of times now on the Sunday we've had the tees way back near/at the white markers and some really tricky pin positions, but that's just golf.

My Driver has some back, still short but much straighter today than it has been. Putting was really good too, stats don't really show it at 2.6 putts per hole average but because my chipping was awful I was using the ol' Texas Wedge a lot, sometimes from 4-5 yards off the green, once on the green my putting was on point though, only slight downside really was 2 or 3 times I left it right on the lip, like half a roll short of going in!

As mentioned, chipping was awful, thinning it mostly but when I did get 'under' it had a habit of leaving it way short, really annoying as my chipping had been sooooo good and it feels great hitting a nice chip up near the pin. Irons were just about ok, distance was really poor but at least the direction seems a bit more under control after being really wayward recently.

Overall, scored 111 which is a new PB on that course by 3 shots, so pretty happy with that overall :)

Im just trying to "slow down" my swing speed..when I do I can cream the ball sooo nicely, but struggle to do that.

I would happily sacrifice 5-7 yards to keep the damn ball straight on target!

Yeah, I keep thinking that, even standing over the ball, then something happens on the downswing and I'm trying to smash the thing into oblivion, and if I'm luck I slice it but mostly trying to alter the earths spin whilst hitting the small ball about 20 yards

Bit more seriously today with my driver that's what I was doing, felt often like a 70-80% swing but hitting it nicely...

agree totally mate. it seems easy to do, but hell, anything but!

when I was hitting the nets at American Golf for my D9 fitting, I was hitting the 7 iron, roughly around 162-165 yards carry on a smooth swing, yes I could get more, but if I can swing and still get those numbers throughout the bag, I would be MORE than happy!

Wanting to go old-skool for my clothing.

I want to get good looking greyish "flat cap" for the golf. Kinda like Bryson D wears. I love them and thought it might be a good thing to "bring them back" to my local spot!

Checked a few places like amazon and ebay to get some rough ideas, but if anyone has any suggestions (at reasonable prices) then please, let me know! :)

Exciting ending to the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

Kitayama leading and then about 7 players one shot behind. 3 or 4 holes left.

3 at the top now, including Rory. 5 one behind.

What a rollercoaster that was! Thoroughly deserved from Kitayama after that triple.

The other guys in contention will be kicking themselves as it could've easily been anyone winning it today

Was up at my club yesterday for something else, but spent a little bit of time swinging a club for the first time since about Sept/Oct in the nets, then spent 15 minutes or so on the practice green. I was going to do some chipping as well, but the chipping green was being used by the under 18 County team (coached by our pro) and by the time he had finished over there I was starting to feel the cold, so didn't want to risk my back seizing up

It felt good to be swinging a club again, and there were a few twinges with the first couple swings, but overall it was fairly pain free, so maybe I can start a bit of practice again. Feel fine this morning, which is a good sign that it hasn't made me feel worse than normal, so I am happy that I could be ready to slowly begin some practice

Carrick at Loch Lomond on Sunday for me. Prospective new members day - £20, coffee & roll plus 18 holes and a stableford comp.

No chance I'm joining but I'll pretend I'm interested for the sake of £20!! Weather looks rough this week, very very cold and wet - Just hoping it's not winter greens etc.

Has anyone used/got the Wilson staff d9 driver / fairway wood?

im eyeing them up, but also on AG they have a cracking deal on the Cobra speedzone, woods ‘ hybrids..
