Whilst you mention putting Diggsy, an all round good tip for anyone.

Record how many putts you make during your round, this is an interesting stat to work on....like they say.....

Drive for Show......PUTT for doe! :D

Yeah, I normally do try to remember this, but to be fair, recently since getting to grips with my new blade style putter (Mizuno Bettinardi - awesome :D ) I rarely have more than 1-2 putts at any hole.

3 putting used to be regular when using my old putter, especially from downhill putts, as I couldn't get the feel for them. The new putter gives great feedback and lots of confidence.

Fantastic, Im still at the stage where 3 putts often creep up on me :(

I currently use a Scotty Cameron Futura putter (Mallet Style) and have been considering a blade, so many people tell me you get better feel with them?

I might try that Mizuno Bettinardi out and see what its like :D
I can feel a purchase coming on lol

Which one did you get? I was looking at the C-04 and 03 to match the rest of my bag (Mizuno irons and wedges) but couldn't justify the expense as I felt just as confident with a Ping putter, if not more so.

I liked the milled face, good looking putter they are.

Female deer? You mean "putt for dough"! :p

Also, if you can be bothered, keep a record of all your putts when you're playing and whether you made them or not, then work out your percentage from various distances. It's interesting to compare your stats to the pros stats - for example, the average success rate from 6 feet on tour is 51%, and 27% from 10 feet (i.e. surprisingly low).

Bought the C-01. It really is a lovely looking putter and gives great feel, and it has filled me full of confidence since I got used to it.

Took a week or 2 to get the proper feel for it, as I had been using a mallet style putter before, but now that I am well used to it I would never even think of changing back.

To be fair to the pros, they putt on ridiculously fast greens and very tough pin positions (on slopes etc.)

When I was trying out putters before buying, I spent about 20 minutes with an Odessey mallet style putter intent on trying to get used to it so I could get it. Couldn't get a smooth action out of it, then went on to blades thinking they would be hard to control and keep straight, lo and behold, got a nice action together and bought the one that felt the best.
I think putting is about 60% mental strength, and the remaining 40% is your action, alignment and most importantly distance control.

Also shot 40 over 9 holes today,,,too bad it was a par 3 course :(

Got a 7 due to a water hazard which killed my mostly bogey card.

I wouldn't worry, everyone is capable of a slip up, even the mighty Tiger. The trick is to hold it together afterwards, and not let the rest of the round go to pieces.

Must go and play a little par 3 course again soon though, I love them, they're great for fine tuning your irons and short game.

Anyone been playing golf this warm weekend?

Played 9 holes of a proper course (i.e. not pitch and put) and came in +10 which I was pleased with, have been playing since July.
3 Pars, 3 Bogeys, 2 Doubles and a triple.

Hi Sukh, sounds like you definitely on the way :)

I took advantage and played Mentmore (Near LeightonBuzzard) which was nice :D
Tee'd off at 7.50 and it was beautiful.
Did not have a very good front nine though, the worst i played in a while.
I soon found what it was and corrected at the start of the back nine and recouped some nice pars :)
Despite the awkward start i had a VERY enjoyable round :D

I LOVE GOLF ! :p

Yeh golf is awesome when it goes well, but terrible when it doesn't. But it is the single amazing shot in a bad round it keeps you hooked.

Why does everyone like having the earliest possible tee time?

Why does everyone like having the earliest possible tee time?

I don't always do it but when i do its for the following reasons:

1) You are finished by lunchtime and have the whole day to do other things
2) I generally find it quieter if i go for the earliest possible due to a slim chance of anybody being before you, means that your round is un interupted
3) There is nothing quite like teeing off when the sun is coming up, so picturesque :D

Also......SOME clubs offer a discount if you tee off before certain times. One club near me knocks £6 off if you tee off before 7:30 :)

Yeh I guess that a good reason, I like going later in the day in the hope of not seeing anyone. Still cannot deal with the pressure of people coming up fast behind me, even though most the time they are complete tosh but walk fast and hit fast.

playing really early is awesome and is my favourite time to play. 626 was the earliest I teed off this year, it was still dark when we hit our tee shots, we couldn't see where they landed from the first tee, but once we'd walked to our balls to play our second it was light. and i really like the lines in the dew on the greens from the balls, sometimes you get one on the right line and can use it hole your putt :p

Played a charity gig few months ago now, 4 rounds of golf in one day. We started at 4:30 earliest I have ever played. We did the entire first round in 3hours and we was back on the first tee before anyone else was out. Was funny the look on peoples faces as they see us coming down the 18th just gone half 7 :) I think we could have done 5 rounds.... might try that next year.

Been cut to 8 recently.... Not sure how well i can play with that handicap. I think i am probably a fair 12.

Lovely time of year to be playing golf.

OS

i've just got back from playing, nice day not too cold and the course was really quiet. the only thing about this time of year is all the leaves! can make it difficult to find the ball. went out in 53 with an 8 on the first (took 4 to get out the greenside bunker) and a 9 on the 9th (more bunker fun), then came back in 42 with a birdie on the last. a definite game of 2 halves :D

edit: should say it was for one of my cards for my handicap at my new club so 95 isn't all bad :p

Firstly!! How dare you play golf on a Monday and and then brag about it on here!! :p LOL LOL LOL LOL
I am not jealous at all.........:(

I was thinking myself earlier "What a lovely day for a round!"
Sounds like your rounds are VERY similar to mine!

Do you mind me asking what club you have just joined??

had day off today to recover from the NFL yesterday so thought I'd best make use of it :D

i've just joined Beeston Fields - proper old style place.

that's my worst round in a while to be honest. my driving was really good, putting wasn't too bad (though I did 4-putt once) and I hit some really nice iron shots into greens. bit of a mixed bag!
