Shaft ordered - Ventus Blue TR 6X.

They kindly knocked off £30 rental fee as well. Excellent customer service and communication.

Had £104 in Paypal from various odds and sods I sold on ebay - Got another 4 iron to sell for around £60/70 so net effect is around £100 for the shaft. Happy with that.

golf/man maths is real.... Pretty sure I've got a degree in that over the years....

Wife has a similar one for shoes/clothes purchases... :D

To be honest - She doesn't bother with anything like this golf wise - I'm the same with her and shoes/clothes/hair etc - Been married too long to bother with questioning purchases etc.

Another comp finished this weekend, it was in the format of Bogey Golf, -1 if you make a bogey or worse (handicap adjusted), pars are no change, birdies are +1.
Played off the white tees for the first time. Finished the front 9 with +6, played super well, chipped in from 15~ yards, really enjoyed playing with people I've never met before.
Back 9 was terrible though, ended up with +4 at the end of it, the pro said +6 usually wins it and he was right, a few people on +6, +5 and me on +4, end up with some prize money I believe. Probably about £20 worth of shop vouchers.

Can't complain about that! Another non-qualifier though, so handicap doesn't change either way.

how is it a non qualifier?

We had stableford at the weekend, I didn't score in 2 holes (didn't even finish the holes just picked up to speed things up) - and they scored as double bogie and triple bogie for handicap purposes. I was only +6 for the other 16 holes so it's counted as 1 of my 8 best in last 20.

Last few haven't been for some reason.
Saturdays was meant to have been a medal qualifier to start with, but come Sat morning it was changed to a non-qualifier Bogey game instead.
Strange, as I don't know why, fun nevertheless.

I wish it was a qualifier personally, as handicaps would change and peoples HCP would go down and up ready for the following few weeks, especially with all of the new members joining (like myself), who could potentially have incorrect handicaps which would sort itself out quicker, if they were all qualifiers.

4 full days of Scotland Golf done, I am in pain.

Such an amazing time, once I slept and can feel my fingers I might do a write for anyone interested.

Good choice mate. I was lucky to get mine for £200 but worth every penny.

odd certainly - basically from April 1st to October end - everything we play are qualifiers for handicap - unless there is any issues with the course/work going on etc

That's where I play, Glenbervie. Hope you had a nice time. Greens are a bit meh just now and quite a lot of ground under repair. Come back in the summer when the course is at its peak :)

I loved it, except that walk up to the 18th! I was in the bunker of death on the left - glad I hired a powercaddy for that
Gullane 1 and Kings are superb...
It was windy, stunning and brutal in equal measure. Both are amazing courses - Gullane nips it for the views, Gleneagles for the "experience" but St Andrews for the whole package for me.

Oooft I feel your pain that's a nasty spot!!
Has anyone on here had experience with https://golfpairs.com/

I'm tempted to enter a couple of their comps just to experience the nerves and also play some other spectacular courses.
Yes I've done 2 of their events years ago when they were getting established. Would definitely recommend.

We played the PGA centenary course at Gleneagles and also Western Gailes links, saved a fortune on green fees and overall it was very well organised.

now you mention it - I think i played there many many years ago when I worked at Clydesdale Bank - we used to have an internal matchplay comp and I'm sure I played against someone there....

ahh - Western Gailes - probably in my all time top 5 courses.... Stunning, proper links course.

well..thats unfortunate, I was expecting a delivery from Tuffnells end of last week, (for my Forbs mat + base) and..nothing.

I phoned up the company and have been dealing with the manager, and as nothing in the tracking had changed since last week, a new order for next day delivery was scheduled, via DX.

So great I thought, now, I'm sit in Costa (luckily someone home atm) and receive a e-mail from Tuffnells, my order will be delivered today! Typical.

So soon as I have them in my hands, I will need to get in touch with the company to arrange collection, there is nothing I can do with a 5x5 feet mat weighing 35KG!

unless anyone wants a mat on the cheap!:cry:

my mat arrived, looking good, the only thing is I can't get hold of the boy "manager" to call me back and discuss the second mat that is on route..

will keep trying, its important if they want there stuff back! I mean, the mat and base weren't cheap!

well, can't get through, and there has been no "extra" delivery for the replacement mat.

Im kinda happy to avoid the hassle of having to send the mat and base back, but overall, poor customer service if I'm honest.

I found it hard to source similar mats, this company seemed to be one of the biggest distributors in the UK for them.

Luckily the mat will take years to deteriorate to a state where I need to replace it, so I can avoid this company for as long as I can!
