It's such a nice time of the year, warming up and the course is going green again \o/

been a struggle lately, amazing how much confidence plays a big part in your game. I had a coupel of bad rounds and by bad probably mid - high 80s so not that bad but my game has just gone down hill since then. I play of 8 but now i think i will struggle with 14. Thinking of taking some lessons but i am scared i will get worse. I guess you just keep playing and hope you get through to the good stuff again.

Enjoy the golf this weekend for anyone playing... the weather looks good.

Getting to single-figure is really hard. When I moved to Thailand from Hong Kong, I knew I would be able to play a lot more. My handicap was around 20 at the time and two years later, after literally hundreds of rounds and two or three practice sessions a week, I got to six and was heading lower. But within a year of returning to Blighty I was back to 13 simply due to the inability to play enough. It really does take dedication to get good unless you are lucky enough to have supreme talent.

It's particularly frustrating when you know the shot but don't trust the swing to make it.

Where do you play Keith? I ordered my first set and bag today.

Mainly play around Leeds area, at the moment its Temple Newsam. When the weather gets better I start going further afield with a couple of societies I'm in and then try to get a few corporate days in from suppliers.

Play with Batty quite regular when the weather gets better as he's a fair weather golfer. Usually lupset in wakey with him.

There's a few nice little 9 holers about to get you going also, such as roundhay, one behind the outlet village at castleford (not altofts gc though) and another near the black bear pub going towards denby dale. Give us a shout if you fancy a knock I can usually rearrange work to fit golf in :D email is firstname.lastname at btinternet.com

You seem to have a pretty solid swing, from what i can see the only problem that jumps out is a little reverse pivot. Little bit of overswing but it doesn't hamper you that much. Downswing is nice, hips clear well and everything comes through together.

Just back from the range and I'm amazed! I have definitely developed a small reverse pivot. So I've been working all afternoon to remove it and go back to a proper sway back, proper turn under the chin and a proper snap. What a difference! Length is back to where it should be and the tend to pull reduced. Also able to revert to my proper grip.

Thanks so much!!

Dissapointing day today. Still won the stableford roll up, but 6 blobs didnt help. still managed 32 points so shows it was a very strange set of golf played by the 8 of us. Best aspect of the day was my driving, split the fairway every time. Poorest was my putting, left a lot of putts between 6-12 inches short and came off with 33 putts for the round which sounds ok but i felt i could have saved another 5-6 shots on the round as the lines were all good.

Glad to be of service :)

32 points with 6 blobs! Shows that there is something there wanting to come out to play but consistency is just holding you back. Still early in the season, time to get out and practice a little to get more consistent; gain some more confidence in your putting and it looks like you'll be nicely on the way

Just came back from a 4 day holiday in Myrtle Beach, SC. 25C every day with zero clouds

On Thursday I was on the first golf course less than an hour after landing, 2 rounds at different courses on Friday then another course on Saturday.

Hands were definitely feeling sore by the end of the trip!

26points yesterday... My game has gone to rubbish. First two holes carded a bogey, next a par then double bogey. So within four holes i lost four shots and i only get 8 to play with so my mind just gave up and i lost interest. How can you loose interest and not enjoy it with the weather we had yesterday, very dissapointed in myself.

Lessons will be coming very shortly or a set of victory reds will be going on the internet :)

Greens are poor at my golf course at the moment. net 71 again at the weekend.

Currently playing off 11 (10.6) and hoping to get into single figures this year. Would like to get to 9 if possible.

Biggest problem there after will be getting any lower with a lack of practise time I have due to work/family etc. Honestly can't see me getting much lower.

Still 2nd round with Ping G15 driver and it's lovely! Loads of confidence at the moment with it! - will see how long that last throughout the season!! lol

Shot gross 73 yesterday. Could have been lower but the greens were so bad :( They had slit them to get rid of thatch or something like that. Then again most of the greens in the whole country arn't up to what they should be yet due to the horrid winter. Hopefully they should be ready for summertime.

indeed - our greenkeeper reckons that the dodgy weather/winter has probably put the greens about 4 weeks behind at the moment!!

Horrid winter? It's been bloody mild, and England has already seen more sun than it should!

It's more around the things they would have been doing to the greens when the snow was around i guess. Such as hollow tining, top dressing, sorting drainage faults out etc. Plus i would think the snow may have caused a delay in the grass starting to grow again.

You been playing anywhere yet?

No mate, got a hamstring injury again from footy right now. Hoping to start up in the next couple of weeks.

I'm very, very new to the golfing arena. I'm a footballer, we don't need cloudless skies. I'd rather it be a mudbath :D

It has been rather muddy. Good thing about being of the 'tougher' northern male variety of the inhabitants of this country means you will probably find winter golf not too much of a hardship, so for the sake of a little rain (well, worst i've played in is a full on downpour with 30-40mph gusts of wind and still came off the course smiling! :D) you get the course to yourself, so plenty of time to catch up some practice on those nancy summer golfers! ;)

fair weather golf for the win :D

there's some good handicaps going on here and some ambitious targets - good to see!

in my first 18 of the year at the weekend I hit a net 73, 92 in real terms, though I started with two 7's and 2 6's and 3 putted 6 times. i was solid off the tee and with my irons (really surprised about those, I can't remember hitting them as well), so could have shot considerably better.

got another 9 tonight, probably 9 more Friday then at least 1 round of 18 at the weekend. golf on!

Played yesterday in the works competition at the Oakmere course near nottingham, nice course however the greens were shocking my local municipal has better greens than it which was a shame really.

However I played awful it was my first 18 holes of the year and I scored a measily 14 points and subsequently I now have the wooden spoon prize for coming last.... ah well an excuse to get out more.

I could do with some advice on some short range chipping tho at the moment as my sorts between 10-30 yards I find are lacking the form of my other shots and seem to either result in my club bogging down or too much power and over shooting.. any tips?
