Golf Thread

Just back from American Golf to get fitted up for my G20 irons. Quite a few changes made compared to a standard off the shelf set, so i'm glad I did it and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to buy new clubs.

Also came away with a new TaylorMade R11 21 degree hybrid :D

Do they charge any extra for fitting if you buy a set of new irons ?

Playing Dartmouth tomorrow on a freebie, which is always nice :)
Supposed to be a tough track though and i haven't played for 10 days or so.
The 18th looks ..... err interesting !!

I'd like a TaylorMade R11 but the white head just puts me off it a little. I'd feel like such a **** when pull hooking it off the first tee :o

i'm awaiting a 10.5 stiff Taylor made Burner 2.0 from my local pro - well worth a hit as it goes miles but i'm slightly worried about the white head as well!

Has anyone seen/heard/shopped at this website before?

99.99% sure its a scam, CN registered domain and references to them being american golf. Wouldnt buy anything unless somebody has heard/used.

Edit: infact dont know why im even asking, obviously because everything is so cheap. must be a scam :/

Hey,

I just happened on this forum by pure chance but thought I would introduce myself and join in with the banter here.

I am a complete golf nut and have been playing for about 12 years, started with a handicap of 22 and after some lessons and lots of grinding on the range of the last 12 years I have got my handicap down to 4 My_Comp_Scores

I also live in the midlands so would be up for a few OCUK society games if they get up and running.

My Introductory golf tip for all those fellow sufferers :)

1. The Ball always starts on the line that the CLUB was travelling on when it hit the ball

2. The Ball always finishes where the club face was pointing to when it stuck the ball

They aint my tips I unashamedly stole them from a golf magazine I read years ago when I first started playing.... but I have always used these 2 snippets of info to get me round the golf course when I aint playing at my best.

Anyways I hope the tips help you think about why you end up where you have done and I look forward to lots of banter on the forum.

We're having a knock tomorrow if you're interested SnoozE? Robbie G and myself are playing at Izaak Walton Golf Club, tee off 10am. Feel free to join us if you're available £12.50 for 18 :)

I echo that SnoozE ^. I live in Studley (B80) and will be setting off from here around 8:15 tomorrow morning, so if you're between there and Staffs ST15 0NS and fancy a lift and 18 holes, let us know.

To be honest, the white head on the driver may seal it for me, looks awesome :D

Never mind the looks just hit it and see how far it goes. It really is an insane club. I play a Bridgestone J33 and I hit it pretty decent one of our members bought the R11 a couple of weeks ago I hit it against J33 and I hit it 20 to 25 yards longer. In disbelief I hit 2 balls off the same Tee the following day and the R11 was 20 yards past the J33.

It really is a tremendous golf club, but saying that also check out the Burner that is apparently longer than the R11 and I believe its used by more Top players than the R11 is

I don't think I'd be buying anything off them, not just yet anyway. It's certainly very new nothing showing on alexa for the site yet.

I like my R11. Was a bit daunting the first time i went to use it as i was one of the first at the club to have one. Some lads had seen it in the car park and by the time i got round to the first tee there were about 30 blokes all wanting to have a look at it and waited for me to tee off too! Haha. Thankfully i tanked it down the middle.

I don't really see the need for 5 woods anymore, a lot numbered hybrid (2 I would say) does almost the same job and is easier to hit, in my opinion.

My 3 wood is a Ping G15, excellent club. Has had a fair outing on days when my driver isnt working well for me.

In saying all this, I personally find fairway woods very difficult to hit cleanly off the fairway which is why I lean more towards hybrids.

On another note, loving my R11. Got it set closed and 1 degree lower, so its actually playing 8 degrees for me. Absolutely belting it.
