Golf Thread

I have found the Golfshot app great, not used it much as I haven't got much golf played this year, but when I did use it I found it both very easy to use and very accurate. The stats it records are great too, and very easy to navigate.

I have the Freecaddie Pro on my Galaxy S2 and it works very well plus it does not have a £30 per year subscription. I may drop my Sky Caddie next time the renewal is up

I have Freecaddie Pro on my HTC Desire and find it works brilliantly, it's such a shame you can't use phones in comps :(

Bukered mag doing the 34 bucks subscription and two free rounds, one at Turnberry Kinytre and the other at St Andys Dukes course again. Happy days.

Had a good weekend on the course this weekend shot Net 71 in the Monthly medal....but the highlight of the weekend was playing with my mate and his 4 year old son here are a couple of his shots

Looking at getting my first membership at my local golf club and thinking about upgrading my crappy slazenger irons, i want to spend as close to £100 second hand form the bay as i can. looking at reviews ping G2's seems to get good write ups, they are apparently very forgiving and perfect and a good choice for someone who isnt stella at the game. any one have any other suggestions?

No expert myself, but from reading around I believe the TM Burners are quite forgiving and Wilson irons too.
I intend/hope to buy some new irons after the winter, so I'm a little research myself.

Its difficult to spec clubs for somebody without knowing anything about you

If your pretty strong and fit then choose a steel shafted club. If you have plenty of life experience (hehe) or maybe not so strong then look for a graphite shafted club

Generally I would advise to go for a quality brand second hand club rather than a new unknown brand look for brands like

Ping...Callaway...Titleist...Mizuno...Taylor Made...Macgregor...Nike

Not Sure if I am allowed to post links to ebay items but seen as OCUK dont sell golf clubs I guess its ok.... but I have dug a few out to give you ideas of what to look for

im watching a set of titleist dci in great condition im hoping top snap up for about £45-50 if i dont get lucky with these i may just get some lessons, me and my friend have been pondering some lessons for a while but i was skeptical how much they will do to improve me.

Lessons will improve your game no end, far more than a new set of irons will! The problem is the longer you leave it before you have that first lesson the harder it will be to iron out (pun intended :p) all the bad habits you've no doubt accumulated since you started playing. My advice, start having some sooner rather than later or it will be a complete PITA and feel totally alien when the Pro changes your entire swing! Believe me there's really nothing to be skeptical about, Tour players wouldn't have coaches if they didn't do anything for them. :)
