Got myself a ping G20 driver at the weekend. I cannot recommend it enough, easy to hit and added 20 yards on my old callaway ft-i driver :)

I'm looking for a new driver at the moment. I'm going through a bit of a rough patch at the moment with my current Callaway FT5 and have considered the new TaylorMade Rocketballz Tour driver. I know the problem is not with the club but with the end user, but we all know that you always have a honeymoon period with a new club :o

I do like the idea of being able to change the loft of your driver by up to 1.5° though, especially as I tend to hit a pretty low penetrating drive anyway. I might have to go for a fitting, and get on the launch monitor at the local range.

Problem solved, at least I think so. It appears as though my left hand grip was too strong so after a bit of experimentation today I've managed to get rid of my low hooks, and straightened it back out to a nice draw. I'm so relieved as we've got our first league match of the season tomorrow! :D

Well, went out yesterday morning on a mission to replace the old Callaway X-16pro irons that I inherited last year (too unforgiving for me!)

Hit a few at the range yesterday:
Rocketballz
Ping G20
Callaway Razer x
Mizuno JPX-800
Cleveland G16

Narrowed it down to the Pings in the end (with the Clevelands in a very close second, they were absolutely fantastic).

They were fitted at standard length (which surprised me a lot, but apparently I've got quite long arms!), yellow dot, and standard grip - looking forward to picking them up next week.

Also wanted to buy a hybrid so after trying a few I grabbed a Rocketballz 3. Looks more like a 5 wood but the distance and accuracy was in a league above everything else I hit.

Got a round in yesterday, kept the driver in the bag for all but 3 holes, hit the 3i hybrid off the rest of the holes and it made a huge difference! Hit almost every fairway and but for 3 silly errors I had a cracking round!!

Finished the front nine 6 over par and that was with a triple on the 1st!! Back nine was a little worse at 9 over but playing off 20 i was well pleased overall. That hybrid has by far and away been the best club I've bought in a long time!! :)

Another woeful round today. Totally inconsistent at the moment due to changed grip and swing changes. Really depressing stuff - very fed up with my golf at the moment.

Just came back from a lesson with the Pro.

I was having problems with the 3 wood, and he said it was just a lack of control due to length as I can hit my 4/5 iron fine.

Gripped down and proceeded to hit the next 15 balls arrow straight over 200 yards :D

Stick at it mate, it'll all come good in the end :)

i know - been playing long enough!

Just zero time to practise is what's killing me at the moment. Hit some booming drives today, left with wedges and 8 irons to greens and then chunking them and thinning them and walking off with double and triples etc!!:(:(

Like he said stick to it your a good player and will come out better in the end.

When I am struggling to find any form I try to remember 2 things choke down the grip a little bit and grip the club very lightly so i can really feel the weight of the club head as I swing it

Hi guys, thought I'd get involved here. Seems like we've got some pretty solid players around. I played golf from the age of about 9-10 until I was 16, got down to 12 and then stopped playing when women, football and other sports became 'more important'. I started playing again properly 12 months ago after my Grandfather passed away (we'd play twice a week when I was younger and we're extremely close).

I felt like I was being limited by the clubs I had, they were some cheapo PowerBilt clubs from when I was 16. So I popped to a pro that was pretty local and tried out various sets and he was very helpful. I tried out Ping S57s, Taylormade R9s, and Burner 2.0s and couple of others. I ended up stumping for the S57s, I hit them a good 10y further than any other club and the feel was brilliant. I'm now down to 8 and really enjoying my golf, I do have a tendency to hit the odd slice as my natural swing is out-to-in. Any tips for stopping this?

My equipment is:

TaylorMade R7-460 Driver.
TaylorMade Bubble Burner 3 Wood (it's about 15 years old!)
Ping S57 3-PW
Ping Tour-S 58
Ping Anser Putter (Brass - 20 years old. Will never change this)
Adidas Tour360 4.0 Shoes (Comfiest shoes I've ever worn)

I'll try and get some videos of my swing up at some point too.

Have been playing quite a lot recently... some of it good and some of it not so good lol

But I had the ultimate never give round yesterday I started with 2 blobs (Stableford) and then managed to shoot 6 birdies for a 1 over par round and score 39 Points.

As they say its a funny old game

try and focus on swinging down the line.

A good tip to practise is take a wedge and swing back just to hip height and thru to hip height. Focus solely on swinging down the line - use another couple of clubs or alike to promote swinging down the line and not across the top of the clubs.

That is one of the main things I'm focusing on and I've strengthened my right hand grip so naturally at the moment I've lost my slice/fade but found a huge pull hook/snap hook as it's a big change for my swing/grip at the moment.

In time, with the above practise it will work better for me.

After fourteen years with the same Odyssey Rossie II, I had a little go in an American Golf (A20 - Sidcup bypass) with an offset Odyssey. It seemed really nice and I said so when one of the assistants came over. But instead of selling it to me, he asked me some questions about my existing putter. How long? How old? I said I didn't know and he told me to bring it in next time I was near.

So I did. He looked at it and me using it and told me it was too long! As a result, my elbows were too far apart, my left wrist was cupped instead of straight and he said I was probably leaving a lot of putts short.

Which I do! Then he starts asking if I know how to cut down the shaft and re-grip. I don't. He grabs a new Odyssey grip, marches off to the range, cuts off the grip, cuts an inch off the shaft, fits the new grip. Then he gives me a ten-minute putting lesson about using a forward press to start the back-swing and I'm nailing everything on the matts.

And the charge for all this?

£9.95 for the grip.

That's all.

Thanks, I'll give that a go tomorrow down the range.
