Goodbye City-Link, hello DHL

The DHL guy turned up at 6pm the other day, in his own car. Not the best delivery.

I've only had one delivery from DHL so far and it came on the scheduled day. Though it was at about 4pm. With City Link I don't think I ever had something delivered after 9am! In fact, as a testament to how reliable they were, when my last delivery hadn't turned up by 11 o'clock I was getting worried (hadn't realised OcUK had switched couriers). It was probably just down to the route the drivers took when doing the rounds in my town, and DHL still got the package to me on time, so I can't really complain. It was just nice to have all my new bits installed by lunchtime :D.

Similar thing here. Got carded on the first day (yesterday), so I attempted to phone the driver. 4 phone calls, and 2 voice messages left, and still no answer. No I check DHL online, and it says they tried to deliver again today at 1:45pm but there was no answer, so they left a card again... but I've been at home since 11:00am, there's no card, and my room is right next to the front door!
Hopefully it'll all work out tomorrow: both delivery times today and yesterday were between 1:00pm and 2:00pm, so I'm half expecting another attempt tomorrow between those times (fingers crossed).

Great... just checked online status: Consignee cannot be reached - time 12:28pm.
What?
I was pacing my room at that time. No sign of a van, and no card again.
Looks like I'll be making a trip to the local dhl service centre after a few days.
Not too impressed.

Placed an order yesterday, didn't realise DHL shipping meant the ultra-cheapo "DHL @ Home" service so apparently I could get my order delivered up to 10pm tonight (or not at all if my previous experience with DHL@Home is anything to go by), and being as I asked for it to be sent to my work address that means there's going to be no one here after 6pm. Great. :(

An old woman in a Hyundai Getz delivered my 24" monitor a few weeks ago & at 5:15pm in the evening.
City Link never missed a beat for and always delivered by 9am.

I'll be quite wary of ordering items from OcUK again to be honest. Dont like DHL one bit.

WTF:confused:.

I can look at this on 2 sides of the fence here.

As a consumer I found city link fantastic, deliveries were always before 12 (most of time before 10!) and never any damaged goods.

Working for a company who uses City Link, they are a nightmare for collections and their customer service is a bit questionable as are their prices at times.

DHL - only ever dealt once on using their service, and they go and damage the package I send! And as for their deliveries - lucky to get one before 5pm!

I have always found TNT the best!

As a 'loyal OcUK Forum Member' you're getting free delivery anyway. If you don't like DHL pay the extra premium and use one of the other shipping options. For the record, the last 4 deliveries I've had via DHL have been OK (and mid-morning). Some delivery areas are worse than others I expect.

There other companies that offer free delivery and dont use DHL. I now use those instead, its a shame to say it but there you go.

OcUK wont shut because Ive taken my few quid elsewhere anyway.

Lucky the order turned up ok. Bit of a fluke us ordering from the same place the same day to the same address :p

yep, that DHL for you, a friend who uses them for biz stuff loves them but for home stuff DHL dont give a crap

Can I just ask, is there no possibilty of offering CityLink and DHL? Giving once totally loyal customers the opportunity to return?

My local City Link depo are really naff and after numerous failed deliveries I had decided never to buy from any company using City link again.

Especially as they have a tendency to lie and tell me that the colour of my front door is white (it's actually brown) to try and prove that they have attempted delivery even though there is no delivery card.

So I was pretty happy seeing the announcement and have since ordered from overclockers several times with a excellent service from DHL.

I've had couriers not even bother with the carding, makes you wonder if they came at all (waiting inside the whole time).

They don't sometimes.

Someone i know works for a courier firm and the stories he tells me would shock you.

At least it's not Royal Mail as a lot of parcels they deal with get 'lost' never to be seen again.
