Google Pixel 8/8 Pro & Pixel Watch 2

I am keeping an eye on the iPhone. I've had that for work phones for the last 6 years and have been fine (work phones are basic ones like SE). Whatever I get next will be a pro version I think..although my 6 is doing just fine. Daughter enjoys throwing it around so that might put me off forming out for something new and shiney.

i have to say that iphones are fast.
was attending TdF last year with some mates.
one had i14max pro and I had my pixel6. my pixel was struggling in heat - 40degrees - and taking photos at quick rate, switching camera on and off
apple was fast as lighning...
thats one of reasons for me to think of the swap the systems for next 2 years,
My Pixel would have to melt into a pool of goo before I turn to an iPhone.

The A17 this year is 3nm and going to be a beast while being cool and efficient. Apple's chips are so good, and frustratingly Google's Tensor chip has been medicore.

my 6 felt like melted pool .in that temp...and 1gen Tensor was not coping...if new gen is better though ....

are chips in 7 behaving better ? quicker?
Yeah my 6Pro is a portable heater.

7/G2 was a improvement, but the 8 with the G3 should be a solid improvement with it many upgraded components in the SoC, plus newer process node.

Time will tell.

I'll be in the minority but I kinda liked the look of the camera setup in the 7 Pro over what they've gone with for the 8 Pro.

But they look great though overall.

I have a Garmin epix pro... so don't need the watch. But that does look better than the first one.

I wish I could get on board with a Garmin but the sleep tracking is bad and that sleep data is key for some of the recovery metrics. I did hear that a recent update has improved sleep tracking though.

I found it to be the opposite. My versa was awful for accuracy for sports, sleep and recovery compared to my Garmin! I was a Fitbit advocate for a good 10 years. However I'm a convert now. That said I'd rather have a sports watch than a smart watch since I'm so active.

I agree, the garmin sleep stuff is excellent on my 745. Also works better than anything else for most things, and the battery life is king. But then I do use it for multi day hiking, so I prefer the old style display.
