Google shows off Android 3.0 - the 'Entirely for Tablet' Honeycomb

I was so up for getting one of these. The problems with the Tegra 2 chip and high profile h264 has killed it for me though. The user reports online are discouraging and I am terribly disappointed with the way the Tegra 2 and honeycomb handles video.
Tegra 3 is meant to sort it all out so I think I will be waiting.

Just to clarify,

Motorola list 720p and 1080p baseline profiles as optimal formats (Also if you keep your 720p video bitrate at or below 20Mbps it will work no issues) https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/63258/kw/video/p/7901,7906,

There'll probalby be community codecs for full 720p high profile too... and a good quote from Paul over at XDA.

I'm sure 720p baseline should be fine with any player. 1080p baseline should be fine. Probably main profile too. The problems arise with high profile HD material, which unfortunately is what a lot of stuff out there is encoded with. Then again, I guess most people aren't going to stuff HD movies on their tablets. The 4GB max file size on fat32 gets in the way as much as anything else .

As an aside. I've been using Plex server to transcode and stream movies (including bluray rips) from nas to tablet (running Plex player) with excellent results. But that's probably best left for another topic...

It is slightly disingenuous to Market 1080p and then caveat it with something that 99% of people will not understand.

It is not acceptable to me to have to re encode everything to get it working.

I really hope they get all 720p working because the price point and os software is superb

OOOoOoOoOoooOOOOOoh... Looks nice. As it stands a Tablet is a bit of a luxury for me at the moment. I have far too many electronic devices a Desktop, Laptop, Kindle, and iPhone is all I need. Then again I never thought I'd use a smartphone, and now I can't live without it.

On Topic: I'm gald now we have a more open tablet OS as so far they've either been "Big Phones" or "Fiddly PCs" running Linux or Windows 7.

Does this support pen/stylus input? Only reason I would want a tablet over a standard laptop is if I could do artwork on it.

None of them support pen/stylus input apart from the HTC Flyer (7” screen). This will have a pen which will support some basic sketching and note taking. What you are looking for will come further down the line.

still £435 if you use 10% discount code + quidco. from dixons.
