Google shows off Android 3.0 - the 'Entirely for Tablet' Honeycomb

Looks like they have lots of bugs to iron out and a couple hundred dollars to chop off the price before I buy it. Although, it's around £380 for the wifi version if you know someone on holiday in the US that could buy it and bring it back here as hand luggage (maybe? :p)

Still, the few niggles and the design of the Xoom has put me in two minds on impulse buying it.

Hey have any of you guys looked at the Asus Eee Pad Transformer as I am really interested in this as I would love to replace my Asus Eee PC Netbook with the Transformer so I can have the portability of a tablet but also have a full keyboard when I want one. Also when docked the tablet/keyboard have a 16hour battery life which is awesome.

I do want to check though that Android 3.0 will allow me to wirelessly stream movies from my NAS to the tablet and then onto my TV via HDMI. Does anyone have a clue if this is possible?

Any news on any firm offering legitamate film download on android (sanding one doesn't count as it only works on samsungs) more I look into it the more worried I'm getting, this is one of my main reasons to get a tablet, on the flip side ipad has itubes which has a good film selection and in HD but no flash for streaming lovefilm and blnkbox.

Sorry, should've been more specific :p They're download services (purchase or rental) similar to iTunes/Zune.

Google are currently preping http://market.android.com/movies/ (which doesn't result in a "Page not found" error as it normally would) and it's only a matter of time before Amazon, who just purchased lovefilm, release something similar. Probably sooner than Googles UK service.

hmmmz i can see the point in having one of these if you travel a lot or are a business person. Or to go on holiday as most places(hotels) so free wifi etc.

But £400 - £700 is just silly!

Atm i think anything google (Android) throw out Apple can do better

I'm no fan boy by any means but seems they are hitting everything bang on recently

I don't know, I'd say price is something Apple don't do better. I pay half as much for my HTC phone as my firend does for his Iphone 4 and have less problems with it. I admit the Iphone is the better hardware, but he hardly uses a lot of the functionality anyway.

Google will do well enough if they can keep undercutting Apple, although they'll never entice the diehard apple fans.

I felt silly paying £330 for my Galaxy S :P £20 simplicity no contract

when most of my friends have iphone 4's and are always playing decent games or have hardly any issues with software etc. I think not having functionality is a good thing as it saves buggering up the hardware/software and makes it more stable/reliable etc. But i agree that some things are petty and desurve to be broken.

As for tabs time will tell but think apple found a gap and now everyone is doing it :D I've only played with the Ipad for 30min and have never seen Android tab but IF its better than the software on my phone then good! :D

IF in the future they are the new laptop then so be it :) but dont think it will beat laptops / netbooks any time soon .. well netbooks maybe ...
