Works fine on my Android smartphone (Senstation XE) albeit a little delayed.
Can control the camera, change settings etc no problem.

Live Preview works on the Nexus 4 but of course stops when you hit record.

Just picked up the Black and it's amazing. So much nicer and easier to use than the 2. GoPro app works great as well, so much easier to change settings etc with it and SO nice to have a monitor.

Just got my black edition but do they do a hero 3 skeleton housing?
Need access to mic port! But protection as will be using it on my motorcycle!

The main reason was to run external mic to rear of bike near swinging arm so as to block wind noise out and improve the exhaust note of my akrapovics.
The hero 2's mic was pants no matter what you plugged into it and suffered from a electronic noise regardless of mic used.
Hoping this will be better, seems to be based on youtube vids i've seen!.

The HERO3 mic is miles better than my HERO1. Have you tried it with the included skeleton back? Would be suprised if that wasn't good enough.

No not tried it at all yet, need micro SD card & I don't pick up my bike until march.
Looking forward to it though.
I can see the gopro being like the iphone, new one every year!! Could get costly this.
Just interms of size & build quality it's a lot better, there selling tons of em now so the more they make the more they can spend to refine/improve them.

So what frame rates are you lot recording in? Anyone using the 2.7k?

Our Hero3 came with the skeleton housing in the box! The waterproof one was fitted and the skeleton door was in a packet.
That's correct but the actual housing he means is another entire housing they made for the Hero2 which has an open hole where the inputs/outputs are, so you can run a mic or video out.

I record in 1080p/60 or if I'm filming for a long time 1080p/30. Can't really record any higher res as it's already painful to edit that res on a MacBook Air Core2Duo, and my TV is only 720p.
Don't ever use cineform as Final Cut Pro can do everything I need natively.

Yeah I don't understand Cineform. It forces you to convert it to an AVI with a higher file size which is just horrible. If a manufacturers program should do anything it should be able to edit raw files, a la REDCINE-X.
Anyone suffering with freezing on the gopro 3 black edition? Mine is terrible for it and I have the class 10 sd card and latest firmware. Works 50% of the time and then sometimes you want to film action and turn it on, it freezes up on the video cam icon on start up.
Very annoying on a ski trip! Taking out batteries from it on a ski lift was interesting.

Just got my Hero 3 Black edition and WOWZERS, in terms of quality and how buggy the firmware is. I think I am a beta tester. It works really well but randomly it freezes whilst turning on.
Anyone tried transferring pics/vids to iPad. I am thinking about the Camera Connection kit from Apple so I can view and edit out in the field, anyone tried this?

Yeah I do this when away without my laptop, its very useful.
