GoPro 3

This is a little montage I put together the other night to show stuff I've used it for. I bought my GoPro HD Hero2 back in March and I didn't really know what I was doing and had never edited before. I feel like I've picked up some of the editing basics now, but appreciate this lacks refinement. The plan is to buy the GoPro 3 and then I'm off skiing, road tripping europe and potentially climbing Kilimanjaro next year.

Given that the decent Hong Kong sellers do the GoPro range now, they might be a good option. If Digital Rev stocks the 3 at a better price than the UK, I would probably get it there.

Not in the uk but I think they will charge me 5% import duty + shipping to here

Ahhh didn't look at your location! Lucky you.

I ordered through the gopro website, will be getting shipped on the 14th November. Including shipping + customs + VAT, works out a little cheaper than the UK price. But I need it before 5th December and UK don't start shipping until 30th November...

I'm not sure. Part of it is that as soon as you see "My XXX with GoPro" you instantly know what kind of video/footage it'll have. The other part is people now do it to appear in searches for it, although that doesn't explain how it started.

I've never done it, not even in the description...

Will the old LCD bacpac work with it?

I don't think so. They all have built in wifi to connect with a smart phone using their new app

If you look on the GoPro website, the GoPro 3 has a brand new touchscreen LCD Backpac which matches the body colour of the new unit. The small print says:

"*Limited compatibility with original HD HERO and HD HERO2 cameras, requires firmware update."

You can still find the old LCD Bacpac in the Hero/Hero2 section. My guess is that it may work with the Hero3, but of course you won't have the touchscreen that the new unit offers.

That's exactly the bit I found pretty curious. I wonder why that happened?

The name. I did exactly the same thing when I got my Gopro 1. I still tag the GoPro name to any video I upload. :o

Tbh it is the same as the 'sent from my iPhone' people did in the early years except that people stopped doing that when everyone and their dog has a smart phone.

I didn't think the 3 was shipping yet? Except perhaps the Silver Edition?
As such, I would think most with them at the moment were given them by GoPro.

With that test in the first video, what I immediately noticed, rather than low light performance was how the Hero3 doesn't suffer from the same flaring/blooming of bright light sources that the Hero2 does.

I'd noticed with my Hero2 that when presented with a really bright light source, such as the sun, it can often cause some weird flaring. You can see this in the video when the girl is moving the light source at around 45secs in the video, and when she is holding it static at 1min onwards.

Great video Booner! I enjoyed that :)

What was with the bit of the guy running away with the bottle of bear? It really made me laugh :D
