Got robbed last night.

ah... hence the reason i left SA :(

far too much crime. we were, infact, the only house on our block not to be robbed, although we could see we were being staked out :(

I grew up in Cape Town, spent my first 19 years of life over there, and it thankfully isn't as bad as the other big cities crime-wise.

Been in the UK for over 4 years now, and I love it actually.

The sheer increase of quality of life is what keeps me here (thank you ancestral visa!).

If I miss the sun, I fly over the Europe for the weekend or something, plus the club scene is unbelievable in London :D

Sorry to hear about the crime (made me miss Steers too, best burgers EVER!), I often worry about my parents :(

Some friends asked us to go out and see them in Joburg.

They tried to say how safe their neighbourhood was by pointing out that the local cafe didn't have armed guards

They completely missed the point that any country where the cafes have to have armed guards is not really somewhere I want to take my wife and daughter !

Zip: Ha ha ha, no bru. That was one guy who did that in Jo'Burg to his silver BMW. Unfortantly, his car was still taken off him, along with his life. :(

FunkyT: I have my reasons. I didn't like it in England, and there's no place like home. I'm very happy here. And in the seven months I've been back here, I am more happy then I ever was in England, the whole five years I was there. I don't need to justify my opinion to you, so I won't. If you're offended by my actions and opinions, well you know where the back button is, right? ;)

Stelly: So do I. However the chances of that happening, are very slim.

StooM: You have a point. However it's not like that. I mean we have car chases going on, where people are shooting at each other out the windows, like in the movies. We have people robbing video stores, knowing full well they will get off scot free. And not get caught. Hijackings ect. The list goes on. But the goverment are so screwed up here it's not funny.

Sic: Thanks for that, Sic.

Phantom: Did I mention I wasn't fully awake when I started the thread? Hence the spelling errors. Obviously I ment a gun. :p

MrMatteh: Some areas are worse then others. I stay in a town called, Hillcrest. Hardly any crime, and we get along just fine. I fully understand where you're coming from though.

Whats the word for ginger? :p

what's the word for "complete cretin"?

is there a particular reason that you bring that up in every single thread i post in? i've never seen a picture of you, and to be honest, i couldn't care if i ever did, but i'd appreciate it if you just drop this "ginger" thing or grow an imagination. i really only find it funny when my friends do the whole "ginger" jokes thing. if it's some random **** who lives 8,000 miles away, who i wouldn't miss if they were gone, i don't take a shine to it.

whatever. just bear in mind, that you wouldn't comment on someone's appearance in the street, to their face, for laughs, so there's no excuse for doing it on here. like i said, with mates it's a different story, but i don't know you so don't do it.

sorry to hear about that ice.
i lived in Northern Ireland quite a few year ago, i was quite young tho but from what i remember it wasnt much fun, i remember reading about a soldier who was shot through the back of the head in NI with a half inch sniper round that originated a mile and a half away over the souther border. also random post offices, shops etc kept exploding in belfast, certainly keep you on your toes. some of the murials on walls were quite cool to look at!
