*** Grand Theft Auto IV - MODS & TWEAKS ***

Not sure if it is has been mentioned but the IcEnancer configuration tool on the author's home page is pretty good for simpletons like myself; I managed to get a reasonable config using it. first linking of an image so bear with me :P

The tool lets you edit various settings like bloom, ssoa, brightness saturation etc without going into the actual file. Can edit it on the fly too (well, with alt tab, no hotkeys)

Paul: I turned the saturation and brightness right down. Something like 0.5 dynamic hq blur, 0.8 bloom, 0.83 saturation, 0.0 contrast (whatever the tool says is default), 0.75 brightness . I'm running 1070 version so no ssao. Not sure what AA, not actually at my comp atm! I ave since tweaked it a bit more to add a tiny bit more colour and blur, will put another pic up later. In game sliders all in the middle. Yup that car is the Washington!

I have just set mine up as above and it looks too dark with very little light effects. I am running the 1040 patch - its really hard to get this game looking like some of the screenshots im seeing in this thread.

The config tool is a help but I think it needs more settings? maybe im just missing something tho :)

Interesting... Before I used the tool, I had given this a try:

http://www.gta4-mods.com/misc/rainbows-icenhancer-21-cinematic-config-f16017

Its a preset for Ice 2.1. It didnt look too good however so I then gave the tool a shot. To install the tool I had to copy over new cfg files, so I thought that none of the Cinematic preset would remain, but maybe it did. You could try downloading that preset and then using the tool to configure it, because the tool doesnt affect reflection rates etc so maybe my reflection rates are the cinematic ones and not the default tool ones...

not sure what you mean by "extra files"... what mod are you trying to install? to install an enb like icenhancer, Back up your GTA Install to save you downloading it off steam again/ installing it again. Then you just copy and paste all the files (and folders) into the root folder (on steam it is C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Grand Theft Auto IV\GTAIV), overwriting anything it asks.

To install other mods like car packs or first person mod, you need an ASI loader. These are two small files called dsound.dll and scriothook.dll. I have had mine for years with no problems on 1070, so I cant remember where to get it from.

Heres what my game looks like now,

Using L3evo on 1.4 [1040] patch, Ultimate textures, Environment mod

Getting back into modding GTA IV again so here are some other mods I've had for a while!

Water mod: raise water levels as much as you want in meters above the default using a tool

First person mod (v1.22 I think)

And both mods together :P

I use Ultimate Vehicle Pack v9. Includes a Dersert Island to the South East of Broker, a (probably newer) first person mod, and a bunch other other small mods, like the trainer used to teleport and spawn vehicles etc link

last video I rendered last night, will put the pack together when I'm not busy :o

I'm looking forward to this.

Hopefully this will be a more performance friendly config than what I currently have.

BTW, what sort of AA are you using? There are a lot of visible jaggies when I view the video in fullscreen.

Hey I found a config which seems to look good on my machine! sethos custom config! looks nice and bring, night then looks pretty dark with nice effects so ill prob stick with this!

Only problem is....the game no longer lets me sign into windows/xbox account. :S
