*** Grand Theft Auto IV - The Official Thread ***

I strongly disagree. PS3 shot makes me feel like I have milky eye, it's that blurry.

What are you disagreeing with ?, I've not said it's better, I said it comes down to personal preference in the end, I was explaining why I feel it's better, I'm not saying either version is superior/inferior, the fact that your saying "PS3 shot makes me feel like I have milky eye" just proves my point that it comes down to likes/dislikes as I love the look of the PS3 shot compared to the look of the 360 shot, if you look on most forums you see the same comments, half are saying they prefer the cleaner look of the 360 version and the other half are saying the prefer the smoother look of the PS3 version, I'm afraid it's stale mate on this one,

I'm disagreeing with the part I quoted, that they don't look vastly different.

Sitting here, it looks to me that they do look vastly different. Being a primarily PC gamer I could just be more used to spotting detail, just like I am more sensitive to the way GTA4 loses framerate at times, but I definitely see the PS3 version as much blurrier in that shot.

Edges smoother, shadows nicer, but overall pretty messy in terms of blur when I look at the PS3 one.

hmmmm is this Ati vs Nvidia?

360 = Nvidia GPU

PS3 = Ati GPU

or is it the other way around can't remember :p

come on guys this is just an Ati vs Nvidia bash up deep down

lets enjoy the game

Look closely at your tv next time you're playing it, the 360 version does look like that. Most people sit far enough away from the tv not to notice it though.

im sat 1 foot away from my screen. its above me behind my computer screen raised up. it looks nothing like that.

No it's not because we're technically using different versions of the game.

ATI vs. Nvidia image quality comparisons on the PC platform use the same game.

Image quality comparisons between ATI and Nvidia on the PC are valid by the way, just not so much in this case because of the difference between the actual versions of the game like I said.

P.S. Yes you did mix them up. :p

Visually.

come on, you can do better than that, apart from one being filtered explain how
the 360 version is better in every way imo.

I get tired of people coming on here posting one-liners without anything to back it up, at least I've took the time out to explain why I prefer the filtered look on the PS3 and what plus points I think it gives it.

<PS3 fangirls hear GTA4 looks slightly better on the PS3>

"Everyone get a PS3 GTA4 looks better on it"

<Turns out PS3 version is only 640p and no AA compared to 360's 720p 2xAA>

"It doesn't matter, they both look fine, who cares about graphics"

;)

I do admit the PS3 version looks a lot better in those screens, but then again in other comparisons the 360 version has looked better, there's been comparison shots posted in this thread showing the PS3 version to have significantly more/worse jaggies for example.

I re-edited my post lol before reading this

and how are "we" using different versions of the game

the game is exactly the same on either console but for the way each machine renders it -

The game is written the same way for each console allbeit only written differently for the rendering required by each Gpu manufacturer i.e Ati vs Nvidia

please elaborate why the two consloe versions are completely different as from what i can see by the two screen shots above they are exactly the same
