*** Grand Theft Auto IV - The Official Thread ***

Guys, I really can't figure out multiplayer - everytime I try to get into a ranked game I end up creating the game myself. How come people can join my games but I never get the option to join theirs? I can join games if I go for a quick match but there doesnt seem to be that many people playing them. My NAT is open so thats not the problem.

2nd date for me, the third date I tried to kill her :D but she said I was a freak and left...

an hour later she call's me for a date, doesn't she get the hint ;)
i get nowhere with her now, she just tells me politely to get lost.

EDIT: just got a text from her telling me to stop calling, oops im in the dog house big time.

Got it today and have played for a few hours, tis good but that distance blur is disappointing on a 92" projector screen, it's not a good idea to have anyway because in games you need sharpness as you could be looking at anything and your eyes would focus on it in reality.

I take it that it's for performance right? otherwise they should have an option to turn it off or at least come up with a better way of doing it, also at times things seem a bit washed out and with odd visibility even at close range, there should be some options for stuff like that, the shadows are also poor but apart from all that it can look pretty good when it wants to! :)
I think it's for performance yeah, sorta to hide the low res textures on distant objects which are necessary due to the size and detail of the city and the limited ram/vram. You soon get used to the DOF though, honestly I don't notice it now.

About the shadows since someone mentioned them, they're dynamic shadows - if you stand still you'll see them moving in real time as the sun moves, and they're over a big area so it's understandable they can't be high res and sharp. They look ok though considering all that.

Absolutely loving this game. Only about 25% in at the moment as i'm just trying to take it all in and trying out all the little extra bits you can do. :D

It's the details that impress me the most, pointless stuff that goes on in the background that adds to the atmosphere. Drove onto the Algonquin bridge earlier and there was a cop car that had pulled someone over...brilliant. :D

Until you realise it's there everytime you go on the bridge :p
It doesn't always have someone pulled over though :D The attension to detail in the game is brilliant :D

I read in a review - they stopped on the road and watched people go about their business - and one women driver was stopped at traffic lights, and a guy comes along, starts staring at this woman on the pavement and then continues to drive straight into the back of the woman driver :p He then gets out to the window of the woman driver to see if she is alright :D

hahahahaha at the internet in this game. :D Pure genius. GTA4 just keeps on getting better and better and I'm only 13% in to it.

You might want to think about removing that pic mate as it has naughty language in it ;)

The shadows on the PS3 version arn't using the MSPaint spray tool though from what I've been told. Just the 360 version.

Can you backup your saved game on PS3? Don't want it to disappear like it has happened to some here !

Save it to a memory stick.

Can anyone direct me to that exotica car place on the third island (as shown on an ad on the Internet)? It's on the corner of some street in Alderney but I can't find it at all.

Thanks.
