*** Grand Theft Auto IV - The Official Thread ***

Play along with it. Your thinking of it too much as a game with rules rather than as an interactive story! Its done to make it more exciting where would the fun be if you could take out the vehicle straight away without any kind of drawn out drama! :)

I did, finished the game and thoroughly enjoyed the story. it just annoyed me when i went to drive by people and had no ammo left after a mission.

Then it must just be coincidence that the missions are noticably easier in GTA IV.

There were only a handful of missions in SA I struggled with...

The opening one (believe it or not!) where if you don't take time to find armour you get chewed up by the Ballas.

The quad bike one with Catalina until I worked out you can switch vehicles and chase the other quads in a normal car (much easier!).

The one in SF where you have to shoot the Yay riders off their bikes.

And, of course, Freefall where you had to pilot the Cessna into the back of the Learjet.

However very few required a major trek and re-arming exercise before starting over!

I found this GTA way too easy compared to the previous ones. I think the only mission i had to retry a lot was snow storm. Other than that maybe the odd retry but that was it. Even the missions near the end were easy..

Finally finished it yesterday, 27 hours and some minutes.
Been trying to get the Roll Over acheivment but can't do it  tried at the airport still no joy.
Dunno if I can be arsed going for the others :(

I managed to get it yesterday :) took a few attempts, the Police don't really bother you when you are on the grass, trick is to get a decent quick car, head to the runway marker signs, and tap the handbrake so when you hit the corner of it, you are already sideways, then it is down to lady luck :)

I though, still can't get the "gobble gobble" achievement :(

Pick the first lane (The one on the far left), take two full steps to the left then fairly quickly push the stick directly down then upwards. I got a strike 95% of the time with this tactic, got the achievement almost instantly.

That is what I was doing ;)

I lost count of the amount of times I got two strikes in a row, then got a 7/10 split or a single pin left :( Will try again tonight :)

Forget doing it quickly, all you really need to concentrate on is pulling back as straight as possible and pushing forward as straight as possible. Do it as slow as you need, he will throw a pea roller towards the pins but they'll go down almost every time.

God damn Roll Over Achievment!
Anyone else having trouble unlocking this?
I've spent hours trying to get at the airport, nothing :(
I've also tried at the stunt jump in the middle of the bridge. And the "haunted playground"!

I got it first time at the airport, just did consecutive "stunts" over the little yellow ramps and it eventually came up after a couple of jumps.

Have you watched any vids on You Tube of the achievement being done?

Yep watched all the vids I can

Even seeing the vids and knowing exactly what to do it took me ages. Very frustrating.

Its extremly frustrating!
Think I'm gonna give it another try tonight, if I don't do it I think I'll give up :(

It just seems to be one of those things that is entirely luck based, which is why some get it straight away and some take ages (If they ever do get it).

Finished this yesterday, 22 hours.

I was doing side missions etc, but then found myself just wanting to complete the story to get it over with. It's a good game, but didn't draw me in like VC or SA.

The stunt achievement is pretty much pure luck, I got it by doing consecutive jumps off the yellow signs in the airport. Deffinitely didn't do 5 flips all in one.
