*** Grand Theft Auto IV - The Official Thread ***

well played take two- poor, poor system implemented - no wonder you lot are going under

Hardly, they did what they could, it wasn't their fault other people leaked it out and sold it, is it ? They are definitely not going under. :) This game should net 'em a couple of quid profit at least. ;)

That sounds a lot like 'if I can't have something, I don't want anyone else to have it either'.

Not a great attitude in general really, childish at least.

I wouldn't go that far. People that get it through work etc then fine, but to go into a store that you phoned and told yes just to be told no when you get there is a bit off.

Whipping up a frenzy with stores unsure if they can/can't sell it, tempting people into getting it illegally - I wouldn't call that a great launch.

I have to say though the brief time I had with it was good, the graphics are much better than any other GTA but there are lots of low quality textures dotted around the place (walls for example) and stuff if you look close. You can tell as it's a 720p signal from the game being upscaled to 1080p, would have been much better if the game was natively 1080p !

Though I think it may just be the fact that I've always been a PC gamer since the Nintendo64 went into history so have been spoiled by high resolution textures all the time and we all know PC gamers are the most picky!

Still, from a distance it looks fine.

Roll on PC version!

It will have MP out the box, this has to be the case since the console versions have it out the box!

Yea but if they manage to implement custom scripts again the possibilities are endless - we could have a GTA MMO a long time before Rockstar release anything like that. :)

(edit, my order _just_ got dispatched...Tuesday it is)

Nope, not sure if I can be bothered, kind of felt like a gimp yesterday going into loads of stores and them saying to me like i'm an idiot "it's not released till Tuesday"!

Anyone been to any places this morning to check?

No, I'll be going by my local Supermarket soon so I might look but despite some stupid excitement early in the week I really only want one version of it and I've got it pre-ordered on PS3 already, got plenty to play including MGO before Tuesday (broken record ?)

Stores messing people around is a different issue, and of course out of order.

But all too often people seem to be directing their disappointment at being unable to get the game early towards the few that have been fortunate enough to get hold of it.

To be fair, its not actually released until Tuesday, so you had every right to feel like a gimp :p

Its got a release date, but there will always be people with every game (not just GTA) that get it a few days before release by conning a shop, there has never been hype like this for any game before and probably wont be till GTA5.

If you rolled up to the shop on Tuesday then you would have been happy to get the game im sure, its only because you have read this and other threads of people getting the game that its annoying you, but if you had it in your diary that Tuesday was the day, what are you losing out?

Mine is still saying its being picked and packed. Why did I get the blind ferret for a picker packer? :P

Ah well back to Oblivion in the mean time :)

Trying to decide if I can be bothered to go searching around this massssive city to get this game, or actually enjoy my saturday, maybe have some food, play some MGO etc etc

But something is telling me to go go go go go find it :D

If they release the game on a Friday then none of this would happen.

well mine aint arrived today. Mine has been on "ordered" and despatch date of "-" for days now, I even got charged for it mid week ffs

Had a bit of blast yesterday and today and i got to say this game just gets better and better.... little things really polish it off and make it that bit better.

Smashing your car up then it wont start, bending wheels! not seen in GTA before! Dragging cops along while they hang off the door handles! awesome!

Storyline is good, nice plot but starts a little slow with a few missions being just drive and stop. However i feel the first island is merely the "training" part of the game. The aiming system is much better than previous gta games, and the on foot control is too. Doesnt have the same feel as the other GTA games mind you and actually reminded me more of Saints Row in some places. I wont spoil too much about the game though lol.

Bad points... well i do find some of the missions a bit boring. Hard to understand some dialoge in the chat and often find the SFX volume is over powering the voice volume. (yes i have tried turning the sfx down). Driving cameras can be a bit annoying at times, but do get used to it.
