***Grand Theft Auto VI***

I’m obviously in the minority here but, although the graphics etc were nice, i didn’t think much of the trailer.

I’m probably just a grumpy old git but it all seemed a tad overdone and pathetic. Like it was going all out for the pubescent teenage boy market. Oh look there’s a woman twerking and here’s naked women doing TikTok video. And the OTT florida loonies.

I’m hoping it’s more of a satirical take on TikTok culture and you can spend the entire game mowing those cretins down.

Yeah as i read this back i think i am just a grumpy old git. Anyhoo it’s probably going to end up a day one purchase for me after all that

I was about to say "nah you're not a grumpy old get" because I agree with all that you said. But then I remembered, I too am a grumpy old get! And yes, it will be a day one purchase also.

The social media presence in the game will be almost entirely parody and satire.

It's not like the game is going to force you to use an in-game social media app like you would as a TikTok addict, spending hours scrolling through content on your in game phone.

People really like to find the negative in everything :p
No that sort of crap is copyright'ed already by Watch Dogs 2 and Postman Pat Simulator - sorry Death Stranding  , god WD2 sucked compared to the first game.

I wonder if they are going to put a bit more effort into the multiplayer this time?

Found GTA5 and RDR2 multiplayer to be a waste of a good game world.
Genuinely interested to know what you would think they could do to make GTA Online better once the VI map is available???

Indeed. The general narrative for GTA games has been built around parodying the social norms of whatever era it finds itself released in. That's the central design philosophy for the series narrative, the over indulgence and sickeningly exploitative nature of modern capitalism. Without that, it's just a pretty cool sandbox.
This certainly seems to be leaning on the Florida Man/Woman being rather eccentric/crazy and then doubling down.

Not interested in the multiplayer as i never did with GTA5 either. More interested in what they can do for the folks who play it either for the campaign or just sandbox running around causing chaos. It's kept me entertained (especially with mods) for the past 8 years, lots of modding and lots of chaos. Hoping this will improve on that and possibly even allow building access this time? I mean they've had the time to do it so don't see why not. I remember a mod for gta5 allowed building access but it was limited to what you could actually do inside except walk around an empty building.

For sure. It's why calls for a GTA based outside of the US would never work. All these people clamoring for a mainline GTA set in London, it's just not anomalous enough but for the most part London is just... too boring. There's a very specific type of madness that's born of American sub culture which makes it ripe for parody. Then there's the way Rockstar balances out it's thematic elements that make the US not just the perfect proving ground for weird character studies, but also a lot of what happens in the games isn't THAT difficult to imagine in reality. The US historical and cultural struggles in general make it so easy to sell that type of narrative to people with very little effort.

Fact is stranger then fiction and nowhere is that truer then in the US.

I think you're not far off it there. GTA isn't the type of game you really see huge innovation in (character swapping from 5 not withstanding...), just excessive levels of polish. The setting handcuffs the devs a little in that respect. 5 gave us a ridiculously well honed city simulation that stands up even today. 6 will try to best that, though no doubt there'll be a few suprises. As mentioned, no one really expected the character swapping in 5, that was unbelievably slick at the time. That's why they're the devs and we're the gamers.
