***Grand Theft Auto VI***

I can’t escape the feeling that rockstar went “This is what our engine can do”, went mad with the level creation kit rather than “these have been generated in real time” there’s too much detail to be the latter, There’s not enough compute power for that, esp in multiplayer and to run a game at the same time.

Sounds like a fair comparison to tbh.
You're grabbing at straws. AW2 looks next gen and shows how good graphics CAN look.
This looks old and like they've done a Bethesda and re-used an old engine and crammed in as much as possible before it bursts.

I don't care about excuses for why it doesn't look as good as other games, the fact is IT DOESN'T!

It looks like a PC modded GTAV texture pack, why would I care about the excuses as to why it looks crap compared to other modern games. I don't buy things based on excuses when they're £70 a game.

This could have looked WAY better, with the 10 years they've had to do it and insane income/revenue milking people multiple generations of consoles/hardware for GTAV, I'm not interested in excuses why it just looks like the PS5 version of a 10 year old GTAV...

And considering this is heavily edited in post for a trailer and barely shows any legit gameplay, that's very offputting for a title with such a big budget/development...

Yes I'm clutching at straws when your comparison was to Alan Wake 2. You hate the graphics but in another breath there's barely any gameplay in the video. Clearly you're not impressed with the graphics, we all understand, so don't buy the game since this is obviously extremely triggering for you.

I didn't directly compare it to Alan Wake 2.
I said AW2 proves that current gen can look amazing, thus it's possible. You're just twisting it to suit your narrative, relying on excuses as to why it doesn't look next gen, which doesn't change the fact it doesn't look graphically modern/nor impressive.

Thus I couldn't care less the reasons why it doesn't look any better than a fan modded texture pack of gtav on pc. That's what it looks like graphically, which is fine for a 10 year old game, but this engine is hardly 'next gen' graphically, sure NPC traffic/population wise blah blah but that's never been what I've spoken about, I'm purely on about graphics, of which this looks dated, as does the cutscenes.

I couldn't have reiterated this point more black and white if I tried, I don't care why hardware wise, it still looks like they're rinsing and old engine like Bethesda do, even if they aren't, the graphics still look ancient.

Clearly some serious fanboy bias going on in this thread, I'm out :cry:

Sure AW2 looks good, but it’s not exactly comparable to scale or complexity of GTAVI.

Besides, it appears they’ve got at least another two years to make it look better for PC than the consoles.

Anyone else unsure, if this is game footage, how consoles are going to be able to play this, even with a PS5 Pro/Xbox equivalent.

I personally think that graphics look great, and if playing the actual game looks like that, I can imagine a lot of people being disappointed when their shiny new PS5 Pro can only do 4K at about 12FPS

Gutted this won't release on PC at the same time, meaning probably a 3 year wait for me to play it :(

No point in buying a console for one game, when that money could be spent upgrading my PC.

If you think this looks poor graphically and "just like GTAV", go and watch the GTAV first announcement trailer then watch this, the difference is night & day.

My prediction is that the trailer uses cinematics as opposed to realtime rendering, but the render is done using the new engine. I don't expect the level of detail and object density shown to be the same on consoles and that this trailer reflects PC quality and performance. I also expect the console versions will be locked at 30fps which aligns with all other high demanding console games.

The trailer shows graphical quality that is above anything available on PC today in terms of open world and object density and only the PC is capable of that kind of potential at the resolution and quality we are seeing which is why I think it's either cinematics using the engine, or PC generated.

E" mobile typos!

GTA games have always looked good for a large open world game and that's it. They've never had world leading graphics there have always being better looking games but the better looking ones are much smaller in scope and for good reasons - consoles cannot handle Alan wake 2 graphics with a GTA 6 massive world, the PlayStation 5 would blow up

I think you’re almost certainly right, I’d be amazed if the realism of the trailer can be rendered in real time, especially on consoles. For anyone saying the graphics in the trailer look bad and are similar to GTA5, I suggest going to spec savers :D Anyone criticising the graphical quality are in the minority and if their expectations are that high I expect they will be even more disappointed when the game comes out. I know and care very little about rockstar (I.e. not a “fan boy”) but I do know this game is going to smash records when it comes out, there’s so much excitement across a wide spectrum of ages.

The pure irony of AT saying computer games are bad for society after everything he has said and done over the years. The fact this man has so many “followers” is depressing.

I recall there being similar “concern” in the media when previous GTAs came out, it was the same with rap and hip-hop music. I used to wince seeing those kind of articles in my teenage years as they usually led to difficult conversations with my parents :D
