Graphics Card Warranties (UK Only) - Let's see how good they really are!

is there a contact number for msi in the uk?

ive logged a support ticket over a week ago and had no response.

Logged one back a few months ago, no reply whatsoever, even to say NO, unbelievable.

Anyway, how are HIS for warranty/RMA if not brought from OcUK and the retailer don't want to know, warranty in second year etc, wish I'd seen this thread before, well when it was originally started!

Just having a read as I'm going for a couple of 7970s.

So Gigabyte and MSI are the ones who offer excellent RMA services?

Avoid the rest?
Yep if you see my original post, anything in the top 6 has the best warranty service, so for AMD/ATI your best options are Gigabyte and MSI.

Took Gigabyte almost a month to sort out my GTX480SOC RMA.

Did end up with a GTX580, but an entire month IMO is too long
Was you one of the people who bought a £200 GTX480SOC? and ended up with a £400+ card? I suppose they could have just brushed you under the carpet with 2 x GTX 460 straight away.

This was down to End of line product so no replacement in stock, this happend to someone else also as I read it on these forums, replacements came from Gigabyte Taiwan Head Quarters as far as I'm aware.

mine may be going back to Gigabyte next month ! - when I get a new mobo

I tested - no go at all (massive texture problems etc) at stock clocks/volts, only became stable at 1.10V (vs stock of 1.038) - and even then just under the stock overclock .... sent off to Gigabyte and they tested furmark, heaven etc at 1.038V with no errors ...therefore was sent back NFF ..... I changed my PSU to a Corsair HX850 - no difference.

so either I'm having wool pulled over my eyes (unlikely) or its my mobo being only PCI-E 1.1 (in theory lower power across the PCI-E slot) - so when I upgrade next month to Ivy - if it still artefacts at stock I will be VERY unhappy customer ...we'll see ...

How can they send 2 gtx 460 cards when they are not even sure the customer can run SLI. Very wrong in my opinion... GTX 580 is very nice replacement, considering they could've sent a GTX 570 as that is more on the same level...

Out of interest, how much did that cost to send, ALXAndy? Did MSI refund part of the shipping costs? :)

Ugh sorry mate missed that ! I will explain it however for the good of the thread.

It cost me £17.10 Royal Mail signed for and insured.

Basically RM are odd. You can either track it all the way but not require a signature or you can track it up until the point it leaves the UK and that's it, but get a signature

I opted for the latter. They don't refund the cost of sending it out to the Netherlands no, but they send it back overnight UPS which was cool.

They were very quick however, turnaround was less than a week which was awesome because according to the buzz going around the net they were taking ages due to being so busy.

They replied usually same day with my questions, and they were kind and polite.

Just sent my POV GTX480 back today, will keep you informed!

POV are a nice bunch IMO. I never had to return anything to them, but I did have some questions once about my GTX 470.

Basically my card was idling at 59c on the stock cooler. I didn't realise at the time that it was because I'd plugged in two monitors, but I emailed POV asking what to do about it.

They said to go ahead and repaste the card if I wished, and that it wouldn't void my warranty.

Also at a later date I had a GTX 295 single PCB and they sent me out all new decals for it. A very friendly bunch from my experiences with them and very helpful to boot.

It seems to me that the Dutch are an awesome bunch tbh. MSI were great, POV were every bit as good and Asrock? they kick total ****** ass IMO.

I'm now friends with a girl who works at Asrock, and she knocked up a custom one off bios for me so I could run a Thuban in a four year old board.

Asrock really are second to none tbh. Just a shame they don't make GPUs !
