Graphics Card Warranties (UK Only) - Let's see how good they really are!

I filled in a RMA request on OcUK for a HIS 5850 card I bought last July and today was referred to the manufacturer for the warranty.

Judging by the replies in this thread, are OcUK supposed to deal with HIS for me?

Yes. HIS are absolute fails. You will have to send it to Taiwan to get it fixed direct by them. They don't even bother answering any questions you have.

By law, the retailer must ALWAYS deal with this sort of thing

hey guys, so what exactly is the rma position for less than 28 days?

i got a configure your own pc and 3 weeks in it appears the gpu has died(gtx 570), the system shut down during bc2 with a burning smell and the no gpu was detected after that so had to switch to intergrated graphics,

anyway i was told to send the whole pc back to make sure nothing else was damaged, they recieved it friday just gone

thanks

hey guys can anyone answer this for me

i was expecting them to confirm the gpu as faulty and send a replacement out to me along with my pc within a couple of days, it's been 5 days since they recieved it back without word now(4 if they don't work sundays)

for spending over £900 on a full system i thought they would have been straight on it to get it back to me

No. By law, the retailer must ALWAYS deal with any returns. 1979 sale of goods :)
However, most companies just tell you to go to the manufacturer because they can and people believe them.

What I hate so much is that they just send it away anyway for up to 30 days. I don't see why, having spent hundreds of pounds on a graphics card, that I should have to sit there without a working PC for up to four weeks.

For example, why the hell can OcUK not test the cards themselves and then send you a replacement out of stock rather than sending the card across Europe?

Retarded.

When OcUK confirms the card is faulty, if it is within the first 28 days, they will replace it from stock

This is why I won't be purchasing any major components for my new build from OCUK.
They are responsible for any component faults for the first 12 months.
They give me the same run around with a 5 month old failed PSU last year. I had to sort it out myself.
If they can't honour this then they won't be getting my custom.
As customers spending our hard earned money in a financial crisis, retailers need to work even harder for our money.
If they don't then you simply go to someone who will.
It's why I purchase EVGA products, their customer service is above ASUS and anyone at the moment.
My GTX480 failed after 2 weeks and when the retailer had none instock, EVGA sent one from their factory in Germany and did a swap at my door at their expense.

EVGA certainly have the best CS
However, OcUK's CS is pretty good aswell. I think you've just had a really bad experience

I appreciate that sometimes you can get a bad experience and I know that most if not everyone here has great experiences too but sometimes a bad one can sour the experience for some.
There is another thread in the motherboard section were a customer is being given the, "return to asus excuse" for a board that is under 6 months old.
It seems OCUK are only interested in selling boards and not exchanging any that are on the shelves.
I can understand why they do this as every item that's exchanged is one less on the shelf to sell but the customer comes first and we always return to retailers that look after us.
I think EVGA are going through a bad patch, they have recently stated the the P67 classified won't be out until May and the Z68 range will be out then rendering the P67 range obsolete.

what is the average time of rma once they recieve it as i will sending a card back soon.

also can i ask for a refund or different card of same value only a week old

Sapphire - Hungary RMA Base - 2 Year Warranty (Take over 4 weeks upto 8 weeks!) AVOID!

i understand you saying AVOID because the RMA takes very long but Sapphire makes top quality cards, personally i have been using their cards for years & not had a single issue.if any it was always related to ati drivers.

+1 for Gigabyte best quality motherboards so i could imagine their graphic cards to be the same. :)

So far I haven't heard a thing from Gigabyte. I had to phone them up myself, however, once I phoned them up they were extremely helpful and they didn't bull**** with me passing me from person to person.

Note: they got the card 11am on Monday :)
