Greenlizard0 PL & Championship Football Thread ** spoilers ** [13th - 19th January 2023]

After Arsenal next week we will have played both City and Arsenal twice. If we beat Arsenal and they lose to Spurs it will be very tight indeed! Not to mention both Arsenal and City have to play each other twice so points will be dropped.

Our remaining 3 big fixtures are Chelsea at home, Liverpool and Spurs Away. The rest are winnable games with 8 of them at home and 6 away.

If by some miracle Arsenal lose tomorrow the meltdowns from some of you will be ridiculous. Try and enjoy your team doing well.

It is because both players gained an advantage by being in an offside position, if Rashford wasn't offside for the 1st cross he would've had a defender goalside of him when the 2nd came in, same as if Salah wasn't offside for the cross when the defender miss headed it he wouldn't have been that close to receiving the ball.

Doesn't matter though as since VAR was introduced I've found myself watching far less football and doing other things, todays VAR debacle has just meant that I probably won't watch any more matches

Chelsea’s a bloody walkover at this point :D

Just got to go and do the Spuds in their backyard. High tempo start will hopefully get us a couple of early goals if they continue starting like they have done.

I'd rather have Salah through the middle with Gakpo on the left and Doak on the right, Ox does the sum of **** all everytime he plays.

You can do whatever you like as an attacker. Being offside is part of your toolset. Players stay offside all the time on purpose to make it harder for defenders to track them etc. There are risks when you do that though. Thats just how it works. Making the offside rule strict to the point of saying "when someone kicks the ball and you are offside then offside is given" would be a bad rule. If Garnachos cross got through, Rashford would have been offside and any goal ruled out.

As to similarities to the Salah goal where the defender quite literally only headed the ball because Salah was there, they are not even close to the same. I agree that the first goal was contentious but the only person I have seen that has even hinted of anything being wrong with the second is you.

See you next weekend ;)

Saying you’ll no longer watch matches is the football equivalent of waking up with a hangover and swearing you’re never drinking again
