Greenlizard0 PL & Championship Football Thread ** spoilers ** [25th - 27th April 2023]

What would you like him to do with his arm? Not cushion his fall? Detach it from his body?

Youre also seemingly ignoring the fact it deflects into his arm which cannot be given as handball.
The other end of the pitch and your screaming for a penalty and calling conspiracy against Liverpool, we all know that’s given the other way

much as I’d love to jump on the mini band wagon I don’t think it’s fair to say Arsenal have bottled it. I think their problem is the same as most clubs other than City - depth of squad - or rather the lack of it. You can see it in most of the top 6 or 7 as the season reaches the end their squads are just about hanging together, through fatigue or injuries etc. City are the only team who have a squad built to last a full season it would appear.

Which is not easy to find...

We would have fared better if Tomiyasu didn’t get crocked at the same time, but regardless as our cup games demonstrated, we don’t have a squad of 20 £50m+ players who can be largely rotated with no loss in quality. Lack of experience (manager and players) also cost us… but I’d rather they had to suffer these lessons to get better than just float around in the middle of the pack.

Had more enjoyment this season from the team than for years… but equally this period is more painful than when we were just so bad people gave up caring. Life eh!

Was rooting for arsenal tonight as would be good for the prem to have a diffent winner.

In reality they've overachieved... on paper only saka is getting in citys team. But what you expect when city throw millions at it each year

I have never ever once said that there was a conspiracy... lmao. It simply isnt a penalty.
Pretty much everyone on the radio (presenters and commentators) said they thought it was a penalty, and then squabbled as to whether the rules are plain BS or just non-sensical if they say otherwise.

There was a handball appeal for us vs Forest at the weekend - the corner came in, the Forest player has jumped with his arms well away from his body, it's gone over his head and the Liverpool player behind him has headed it against his outstretched arm. No penalty was given and to my knowledge there was no screaming or calls of conspiracy against Liverpool. There wasn't any of this because just like today, it wasn't a penalty. After the madness of a couple of seasons ago, where everything was given as a penalty, officials now take into account the fact that a player is jumping or falling.

Now I do appreciate that you would be calling it a conspiracy if it involved Newcastle, just like you were making mad accusations of corruption in the PL during the Newcastle takeover saga but you need to understand that not everybody is like that.

Who on the radio as they didnt on my live stream. Please dont tell me youre using Joe Cole or Peter Crouch as a source when it was literally debunked by the presenter afterwards.

As for David Moyes with his "If it was an Anfield" shout. We have had 2 penalties all season, they've had 8.

Where do you draw the line? Any ball to hand is an automatic penalty?

They changed the rules in 18/19 to make it way harder for a handball to be given if it hits the supporting arm of a player when he's on his way to the ground. Thiago was mid challenge and the arm it hit was his supporting arm, the ref simply applied the letter of the law.

Yeah that's what they said VAR said, but then they all said it was BS and hey don't shoot the messenger. Not my teams. I couldn't care less in this case. But seeing that clip, nah. I don't think it's simply him breaking his fall.

Didn't we go a year without getting a penalty until recently - Salah's miss against Bournemouth. ******* laughable some peoples perception that we get given penalties every other week

Ok but are you ignoring it being deflected into his arm then or?

The rules and regulations oracle that is Dale Johnson was asked about it on twitter and said it's not a pen that's given in the PL but they've been given in the CL however he points out that UEFA are now telling officials that they shouldn't be given in UEFA comps either.

My second trip away to Stamford Bridge in 12 months... 6-1 to us on aggregate. Ahhh. Beautiful.

And we only had one shot on target tonight :D
