Greenlizard0 PL & Championship Football Thread ** spoilers ** [2nd - 6th April 2022]

You can't just write your chances off just because of a harder run-in. A win today, which although not easy was realistic and you'd be in the driving seat. The buffer you had over Spurs & Utd meant those head to head games with them weren't going to decide the top 4 race, as long as you could pick up points in games like today - the tricky away games vs handy sides.

Even with the loss today, it's hardly a write off. You're still right in the mix. Yes, you may have to pick up a few more points than you'd have hoped in your harder games to come but that's not impossible, nor is it that Spurs will drop points vs Villa at the weekend.

There's a lack of experience having the youngest squad in the league that I'm not confident in when it comes to dealing with the pressure of a close final run of games for that 4th place, especially as for many of them it's their first crack at it. If we had a few more players that had been there and done it it might be different but this largely foreign territory and esp. with the away games it's going to require fielding the preferred XI and putting in flawless performances, since we're not yet able to pull off the 'play badly but still win' thing.

Manager of the season!!?? For what lmao. You cant give that award to someone who has won 8 out of 30 games lmao.

1.23 PPG 34% win percentage

Hodgson was 1.22 PPG so i guess a 0.01 improvement is something especially when 80 million was spent in the summer ffs.

I did say it was a long shot, there's always a nomination for a manger thats massively improved a team and there's no chance he's going to win it but he'd deserve a nomination.

Sure they've not won many games, but every single metric has improved and the play style is actually half decent to watch compared to the turgid football Roy had them playing. In his last season they had a -25 GD and finished 14th, they never had a positive GD under roy or a top half finish and this season they're on track to finish with a positive GD and a comfortable top half finish, they've achieved neither since getting promoted in 13/14. Furthest they've gone in the FA Cup too since Pards was managing them. Thats a very good season for a club like palace.

If they have a similar summer window and manage to keep/replace Gallagher they could easily be pushing the likes of West Ham/Wolves/Man U for a Europa spot.

We're playing miles better then we did under Roy, and there's been quite a few games this season where we dropped points with defensive errors towards the end of matches. Without these tiny mistakes we would have had a fair chunk more points

Whenever I have watched them play they have looked good. Well organised, good effort levels and a nice style of football. Not all things can be reduced to metrics, especially if you are trying something different.

Villa are going to have it tough on Saturday, especially given Spurs momentum and our lack of current form. Having said that Villa performances are so sporadically unpredictable of late that we could squeeze a point out of it. Hoping we at least turn up, this is the only game I've been able to afford a ticket for. My season ticket money for next year has had to go elsewhere due to increased living costs and I doubt I'll be able to afford tickets at all next season :(

That's a massive blow considering how bad Tavares has been the last 2 times he played. Don't think it's over just yet though.

Yeah he's got a bit of the Andre Santos about him at times. It's probably the position we have least cover for except maybe striker.

I didn't realise how difficult Everton's run in is. Just got a penalty by the looks of things unless VAR overturns.

I can’t see where Everton’s next points are coming from, and they’re coming to the Emirates for the final game, so they really don’t want to leave it to a final day decider
