Greenlizard0 PL & FA Cup Football Thread ** spoilers ** [18th - 22nd July 2020]

Although in fairness they had Hazard last season, and weren't coming off a transfer ban
They had a transfer ban and yet added Pulisic, Mount, Abraham & Tomori to their squad and had Loftus-Cheek & Odoi back from long-term injuries. Of course it wasn't ideal but it was hardly the end of the world with them adding £100-150m worth of players to their squad still.

Just a bad day really. Shame it will have taken a lot out of the squad for nothing when we play again on Wednesday night.

This is shades of what happened before. Amazing winning streak then players out of steam. I am really worried about West Ham as they haven't actually been that terrible since the restart. That last game against Leicester is going to be massive.

Yeah I get you, but they've rebuilt pretty substantially, without being able to go actively recruit. I'm not a Chelsea fan, but I think if you'd asked them at the start of the season they'd have been delighted with top 4 and the FA Cup (if they win it).

It's a decent season but when you consider the seasons Utd, Spurs and Arsenal have had, it's hardly the massive achievement the commentators were making it out to be. What Rodgers has done at Leicester or Wilder at Sheffield Utd has been far more impressive.

Poor team selection and performance from United and De Gea has once again proven he’s no way near good enough. Loaning Henderson out for another year looks a bad decision right now.

Finger’s crossed we can mirror 2016/17 and beat Chelsea in the final again after beating City in the semis, rather than that Baku game that I’m still doing my best to try and forget about.

Let's be honest Chelsea haven't been that great. De Gea has basically won it for them.
Not sure I agree with all of that. Chelsea were much the better side and it only looked like one side were going to go on and score. Once they went ahead they've done everything you'd expect of them, controlling the game and keeping Utd at arms length. Yes De Gea could have done better for the first goal and gifted them the second but given the way the game was going, I think Chelsea would have gone on to score anyway.

Just a bad day really. We have been generally excellent in the past 20 or so games so it's important people don't lose perspective over this result.

Major concerns about De Gea though. He's on a huge contract and is simply not reliable any longer. A shame but it is what it is.
