I wonder how Arteta will approach this weeks final 2 games?

A manager should always put his club first, but in the interests of sportsmanship, he should put out similar strength teams for both games. Think it will be harsh to go strong on one and not the other, considering the importance of the games.

The BBC commentary was shocking in regards to DDG, they referenced his mistake in a Spain game over 2 years ago, similar to the mistake today. He’s been making them each week for as long as I can remember.
They need to flog him back to Spain and get Henderson back. Give the lad a chance. Or give Romero a chance in the last few games.

You can’t just flog him unless someone’s willing to match or get close to his £350k a week wages. He’s got 3 years on his contract with the option of a fourth

It's all too apparent that there's too many of the United squad, particularly our back line and defensive midfielders that just aren't comfortable on the ball. When these players are pressed, they can't move the ball forward or worst still, they give away possession easily.

I really feel for Bailly and the persistent injuries he keeps picking up, he's a fantastic CB that is comfortable on the ball, is strong and has pace too. He was liable to going to ground when challenging and often looked susceptible to conceding a penalty but that can be worked on. I thought yesterday, he was the only player in our back 5 (why on earth we played a back 5 is another point entirely) that looked comfortable on the ball.

It was the third which got me,

"De gea hasn't done much to help Maguire out there"

It's like they'd decided to make him the scapegoat. I'm not sure many keepers are keeping that out, or if they are it's purely luck based.

If we don't win am i right in thinking the extra spot does not go to the runner up but instead to the next place down in the league?

His positioning was poor, he got beat at the front post - the fact it was Maguire that turned it in is largely irrelevant as it could easy have been Giroud or who ever it was.

Probably a blessing in disguise for Spurs ;)
I know everybody laughs at the Europa but I can't emphasise enough just how important it is to both Arsenal and Spurs to qualify for it this season.

Arsenal and Spurs are both in very tricky situations financially. Arsenal have already been cut adrift financially from Liverpool, City, Utd and Chelsea and with Spurs missing out on the CL, they're facing the same fate. Both sides rely on matchday revenue far more than any of four sides and we now face the prospect of greatly reduced matchday revenue for the next x amount of months. And in Spurs' case have the small matter of £600m+ worth of debt.

In normal circumstances the CL is worth anything from £70m to £110m, once you factor in matchday revenue and clauses in commercial deals. Arsenal and Chelsea would have made approx £45m and £50m respectively from last season's Europa League. Given the size of the BT's tv deal, even just making the quarter final will earn a PL side around £30m all-in. With the financial challenges both sides face, this isn't to be sniffed at.
Not really Europa League is not as much of a joke as it used to be. Great for playing youngsters and also offers a route to champions league.

Also I cannot see Spurs getting top four next season so is a must for them.
Qualification for the CL is the only thing it's got going for it, from a footballing point of view. There's been a couple of exceptions over the years but the standard of sides in it (outside of the PL sides) is pretty shocking. The old UEFA Cup, when there was only 2-3 CL spots from the major Leagues was a far better competition.

It'll depend on the results of the games tonight. Realistically we're looking at finishing with 59 points if both remaining games are won which will only be enough for an EL spot if Wolves lose or draw both their games and Sheffield lose or draw one of their two games.

Wolves, 7th, are on 56 points with +3 greater goal difference than us, and have Palace at home tonight and Chelsea away for the last game. I'm going to assume Liverpool get a home win against Chelsea tomorrow in which case they'll want to win their last game at home to secure 3rd, and we will not achieve cricket scores in our last two games, meaning we likely need Palace to do us a favour tonight and avoid losing.

Sheffield, 8th, are on 54 points with Everton at home tonight and Southampton away for their last game - not sure two wins there is on the cards.

So it likely comes down to how well Wolves do. A strong win tonight and there's not much point going all out for the final 2 games.

Actually don't we need Spurs to lose their games as well? I can't remember all the permutations. In any case I don't think an EL spot from the league is likely. HAVE to win that cup final.

I was also thinking from the relegation point, it’s a bit harsh to play two completely different strength teams against Watford and Villa.

If we beat Villa aren't Watford safe anyway?
Not necessarily. Watford have 3 more points with a +4 goal difference. Problem is, their next match is against City. If they get a pasting, that could wipe out the GD if we don’t smash Villa. Then it would be all down to the last day when we play Watford.

If Villa can still catch Watford on the last day, would it be fair for us to go weak against Watford?
