Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [10th - 14th Feb 2012]

I sincerely hope the report isnt correct

During the bust up in the tunnel Im guessing, otherwise it would be caught on tv (as it would be out on the pitch)

It's being said that the spit is what caused the bust up. I won't say it doesn't take a genius to work out who it was, and I'm not saying it was Suarez, but put it this way I'd be surprised if it was anyone else.

If I recall correctly(I didn't watch round up at half time or after game) Suarez kicked the ball right at the bench(or crowd?, if bench I'm assuming Utd's) after the whistle went, people were obviously angry with Suarez and it isn't a giant leap that if someone spat it was him retaliating.

for what it's worth I personally won't read much into this spitting thing unless there's something more concrete than an article in the sun.

Yes, i know, Liverpool fans hate the Sun but they have a very good article on why its taken so long for them to notice Suarez is a pratt.

Liverpool seemed to proclaim themselves a competitive top team for attracting a great player like Suarez to them over other clubs. No other top clubs went in for a player who was on a 7 game ban when the transfer went through for biting someone in the neck. Someone who had arguments with team mates, got booked for diving and cheating, who could absolutely be forgiven for the handball in the world cup IF and ONLY IF he hadn't gloated about it afterwards, said he was happy, called himself the real hand of god. I think MANY players would have instinctively done that and regretted it afterwards, very very very few would be happy and gloat about it afterwards.

Another excellent point is, after all this he flat out lied to Dalglish who went on camera saying he's spoken to Suarez and he would definitely shake Evra's hand. He flat out lied TO HIS CLUB, and the manager has since had to come out and make an apology for the whole thing.

It's not the one thing, its the entire situation, everything he's done and how he's acted for years. They bought a 22million time bomb from a club LOOKING TO GET RID OF HIM, not unhappy to lose him, and a great description, liverpool bought the south american Diouf.

Suarez on his day might be a great player(might not, great record in Holland like many others, hardly set the world alight at Pool), but he's a player not worth having at the club.

The trouble being, who would buy Suarez, shipped out of Ajax for 22mil while on a long ban for biting someone, if Liverpool then want to ship him out its after another long ban, a season of controversy and a less than steller year on the pitch to top it off.

Suarez is a prat but he is also a good footballer. Cantona was a violent thug, anyone remember the stamp on the notts forest player??? but Utd fans proclaim him as the Utd god (or maybe son of god).

Liverpool club and fans will not turn there back on him until unless his form disappears and i doubt it because to be frank liverpool at the moment look good but are not scoring anything like enough for top 4. They need him and will forgive him his indiscretions on the pitch. I thought he handled himself reasonably well during the game, i would have slapped evra if he did that to be at the end of a game i lost.

Sounds like you and Suarez would be able to keep each other company on the sidelines quite nicely. He didn't shake Evras hand at the start of the game and all Evra did was celebrate (admittedly a lot) in front of the united fans.

Suarez is just a nasty little **** im afraid. First game back after the ban and hes kicked Scott Parker within about 3 minutes, doesn't shake hands with Evra in our game. What do you expect Evra to do when we have just beaten Liverpool after all this ****.

lol, other than the handshake which was OBVIOUSLY going to cause a controversy if he refused(and he lied to his manager saying he would do it), he kicked the ball HARD at the Utd bench(I think I still am not 100% sure where that ball was going) well after the whistle had gone and that probably led to the bust up in the tunnel as it definately angered the Utd bench and the Utd players right before they went into the tunnel.

Sorry but handled himself well, not even close.

Sorry DM but to even bother to play in that atmosphere is a credit to him. Modric and Tevez refuse to play for their own financial gains but at least he bothered to come out and try and let the football do the talking. The ball kicking I am not so sure about but to not have lost his cool with the baiting and the blatant bad tackles was something.

My major problem with the entire incident is that fans now think its ok to return to the racist chants etc. Just because 2 idiots are good at football but not good at thinking does not mean racism is ok.

Can hardly compare Modric and Tevez :/

What bad tackles? Also, it's a credit that he didn't lose his cool, even though he did and kicked the ball at the bench for absolutely no reason.

As for bothering to play in that atmosphere, firstly he created that atmosphere, secondly he made it worse before it started after making promises to his manager he wouldn't and thirdly, Tevez was proven by City's OWN investigation and EVERYONE saying that he did not refuse to play, if you want to put it that way refused to warm up..... for the second time, another way of putting it is when asked to warm up again he said he'd already warmed up and Mancini went mental over nothing. For financial gain he, has turned down his wages when all he had to do was train lightly and never actually play, never refused to play and said he wanted to leave and played and scored many times between that and the incident.

Honestly, Liverpool should simply not have played him and made it easier all around, lots of players have been "protected" in the same way. I give him zero credit for being asked to play in a game when the fans will be against him. As suggested he's been known as a trouble maker and like Barton/Diouf and lots of other players get a crapload of grief(deservedly) from the opposing fans. He'll get stick where ever he goes, its a (nasty and unrequired, dimwitted fans being stupid) part of his job that many players have put up with for decades.

I mean, Campbell for Arsenal going to WHL, depending on the reason the amount of utter bile thrown at players is disgusting. But, like it or not its pretty normal, Suarez has grown himself a reputation and will get stick in any game, he got it in holland, at the world cup, supposedly earlier in his career and he'll get it at future games. Some players bring it on themselves, others don't, I have zero sympathy for Suarez as he's entirely put himself in this position.

Mr Pink, boo hoo, yes I do hate Suarez, that post was based on a new article and brought up a lot of points that haven't been discussed yet, but ignore it all, I couldn't care less.

Dalglish and Suarez have apologised (though I don't think that KD needed to) we will just wait for the same from Evra and Ferguson and then the matter should finally be closed
