As much as I dislike spurs and cm I'll be supporting them next week to the hilt. Mind you they always lie down for the mancs

Another reason to support the Ref against them after all the match will already be over and they will have already disappointed us and only looking for excuses!

Did anyone think Agger should've had a penalty when pulled down by Evans?

It looked like a foul, but if that was given as a penalty then teams like Stoke would give away 10+ penalties per match, so who knows?

Until there's some clarification of what is allowed in the box and refs actually punish players then it's a massive grey area.

Based on what I'v just said, I'd say no penalty (that doesn't mean it's right though).

The law is clear enough. Its the refs that have a tough time understanding it. I thought there was more of a penalty shout in the agger case than the saurez incident.

It isn't a grey area, pulling someone to the ground is a foul lmao, just because refs are retardedly **** in the english game doesn't mean its a grey area.

Dowd would probably give it

If it had been Gerrard, or one of many other Liverpool players, who would still have gone down but it would have been believable rather than the acrobatic, acting that Suarez has a reputation of doing.

personally, Evans got enough of the ball to warrant it being a good challenge, a very difficult penalty to give.

case in point:

it's now tuesday and liverpool fans bring up another penalty incident

lolz

and bagsjoni, i've stated i will be aggreived if spurs get a similar decision go against them. i wont use it as an excuse to brush over the other failings of the game, in liverpool's case, their limp wristed strikeforce.

spurs had 3 goals dissallowed on thursday, that's goals, not penalties still to convert. goals. 2 of which were legit. like most fans though, we moved on to the next game.....

like i said to Baz87. get over it.

I think thats a little harsh.

You probably wouldnt see that given in 8 out of ten cases in a CL match either (although by that statement its still a little more likely to be given than in an EPL match)

edit - I did laugh at Johnson's excuse about the penalty he gave away "if it had been Suarez as the attacking player, it would have been no penalty" irrespective of the heel clip or the fact you didnt even get close to touching the ball of course (or the direction of the tackle, ie right from behind around the "wrong" side of the player)

You are only correct in one aspect here, and that is that it is written in the rules.

You have already outlined the reason why it is a grey area - because the refs generally don't give them. The rules are open to interpretation by the refs, which is what is causing this.

I don't even know if it would be a good idea to police the game to the letter of the law anyway. It would probably kill the sport in truth.

PLEASE STOP TALKING ABOUT THE PENALTIES

Note CM I brought this up as a joke, as it hadn't been discussed and although it was a clear cut penalty and don't really care, there were at least 3 other major decisions that were completely wrong so it doesn't matter. Just incase.

Seen them given for less in a CL match.

Ivanovic on Alonso in 09 we got one pretty similar but less obvious, Evans just arm dragged him to the ground.

Not likely to be given is correct, it isn't a grey area, it is a foul anywhere else on the pitch = still a penalty. Our refs are **** and influenced by retarded things. Funnily enough Ferguson brought up he never gets penalties at anfield so no need to worry this week.

Just because the refs choose to view the rules wrong doesn't make it a grey area, they would 100% give it a foul outside the box, the fact they don't in it just shows they have no bottle/scared. There are very few refs who I think don't give a **** what people say/are influenced and although Dowd screwed us over majorly at West Brom I still would have him every game due to the fact he won't be scared by 10 players surrounding him which certain teams adhere to on big decisions they want.

You have awful refs like Atkinson, Webb, Halsey, Friend, Clattenberg, Probert. (Lee Mason if the fat cheat still referees.)

like i said to Baz87. get over it.

Says the guy still talking about it :o

And I was responding to your post last night too. I think you need to get over it cm - you seem slightly obsessed with Liverpool ever since moses picked your weak ass "market rate" theory apart. Get over it cm. Spurs aren't in the CL CM, get over it. AVB has a ginger beard, get over it.

Never disputed that - but much more obvious pens have also not been given.
As the old saying goes "it all balances out in the end"......theoretically

Over the last few years in the same fixture I think Liverpool are aheadon decisions, so that phrase comes to mind again.

If you counted "if it happens anywhere else on the pitch its a foul" being mentioned for any EPL team in a game it happens very frequently. Pens have to be more deserved than general fouls (even if the letter of the law says you are correct).

Otherwise you start looking at hand ball incidents in a different light just because of the distance between the players , and other similar occurances.

edit - there was an incident last weekend (sorry cant remember which match, but it wasnt Utd's) where people were clammering for a hand ball when the ball blatantly came off his thigh first and riccoched onto his shoulder area, this kind of thing is ridiculous to claim imo but players and the crowd were shouting for it.

i had dropped it. i think you'll find you had trouble with my facts.

and what has moses got to do with liverpool? and oh the lol irony of a liverpool fan mocking the theory of a market rate.

i've had enough now. there's different games coming up. i'd rather discuss them.

To be clear, I'm mocking you and your made up theory. Get over it cm, move on.

@Shami - I honestly think cm's great. If you take him seriously he could be frustrating but I've now learnt to not bother trying to discuss anything seriously with him and just tell him to get over it and move on.

Mark Lawrenson on MOTD saying something isn't a fact, hell if anything if he says something its generally the total opposite applies. The bloke is a total fool and the worst 'pundit' on TV

You don't need to drop it coz you are not doing anything wrong. This thread is a spoiler thread for the last weekend games(at least as per title). You can discuss so feel free to flood it with your opinions because it was created for guys like you and me.

So get over "Get over it"

On topic: Wasn't the penalty awarded to Newcastle from a pushing in the box or was it from elbowing
