Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [28th - 30th December 2019]

All the issues we have with var in th league though is bizzare as we don't have the same debate as often about var in European games, it works allot better and smoother than in the league

Dreadful decision by the VAR dummies.

Should have been a Wolves equalizer.

This offside rule really needs changing.

OMG. Arsenal Fan TV is going to be immense tonight!
And not single **** is given other than the amount of attention non arsenal fans give it ;).
Enjoy watching a bunch of idiots who call themselves fans of Arsenal pretending that they know how to manage/coach arsenal.
Pfft armchair managers lol.

Why is it a dreadful decision when hes offside?

More of the defenders body was closer to goal than the attacker overall, if they're going to be so anal about offsides I'd like to see those NFL blokes with poles measuring where a ball leaves the field of play and VAR has to check that the throw in is taken from that same exact point. Why should it only be offsides being put under insane amount of scrutiny? in fact I have lot more ideas where VAR can be used to ensure the rules are applied to jobsworth levels of accuracy at the detriment of the sport.

His foot is further forward. Simple as that really.

From what I’ve seen of VVD that’s the only vulnerability he has, he’s occasionally way toO comfortable and can be caught out. That and Pepe obviously ;)

Because a) they're only worried if it's a goal scored or not and b) it's easy to apply the visual technology to an arbitrary rule like offside where you're simply trying to determine which player is furthest forward.

It's not perfect but it's a million times better than a lino trying to stay dead level with two or more players who are constantly changing speed whilst he's also looking in two places at once to determine where those two or more players are stood at the precise moment someone is kicking a ball that could be literally anywhere else on the pitch and may or may not take further touches as it travels which means he'll have to still be keeping on eye on two or more players or even different ones now whilst watching the travel of the ball.

In fact, if you try to break down the way the linesman has to work in the same way people are breaking down VAR, it's an absolutely laughable system and it's amazing it had any kind of success rate at all.

Oh well, if it's his foot.

Thought it was one of those shoulder, arm is offside decisions.
