Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [28th - 30th December 2019]

VAR decision : Let’s hope the grounds people mowed those lines straight :D .. and the camera lens distortion is corrected.

It's easy to understand why Wolves are fed up with VAR, they're the only side in the League to have had every VAR decision to go against them.

edit: and another terrible decision by Anthony Taylor being overruled. The best thing about VAR is it will prove once and for all what a terrible ref he is.

The problem with VAR in football is there are too many variables and rules for it to work with any simplicity.

In tennis the ball's either in or out. That's it.

In cricket it's a little slower but there are 3 phases to check for. Still pretty easy.

Offside is the one thing it gets right and you want to get rid of it? A little offside is offside, it's black and white. why people want a gray "he was only a little offside lets allow it" i dont know.

I agree that it’s black and white, but the technology doesn’t match the rule. There’s no way they’re drawing that line in the same place for every attacker, trying to figure out where someone’s armpit starts shouldn’t be the difference between offside and onside. At least doing it by feet (which would still rule that wolves goal out) is a much clearer and obvious marker.

That doesn’t even account for issues such as the frame rate of the camera determining when the ball is struck. How does the premier league not have high FPS cameras to get this sorted.

OMG. Arsenal Fan TV is going to be immense tonight!

This whole meme about AFTV is just so crusty and boring. The worst thing about the channel these days is the baiting in the comments from non-Arsenal fans trying to stir things up. Watching each post-match interview upload and... it's all perfectly reasonable, like it is the vast majority of the time.
