GT200 GTX280/260 "official specs"

That PSU is proly a bit overkill.

no chance.

I would go for the next one up really, the 620 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...X2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU (CMPSU-620HXUK), it's only £18 more, if you can afford to get a GTX260/280 then you can afford to spend a couple of quid extra on a more future proof PSU, people always try and scrimp on their PSU's makes me angry :D:p.

This is the PSU I have already running my Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 & GTX8800. At the time I was told this was a good PSU to have

Looks sweet.

Neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed benchies though!

I am torn between the 4870 1GB, the 260 and the 280 at the moment. I really really am hoping that the 260 overclocks like mad... if so it is possible that I might grab that one. But then who knows at this point

How long do people think the Benchmarks shall be now ? another week or 2 ?

Is it official that the 260/280 have not got dx10.1 support? Then again to fix this if its true would a driver update sort it or the acutal hardware is physicaly uncapable of using dx10.1?

Nope it doesnt have 10.1 support.

It's the hardware presumably, either that or certain DX10.1 features cripple cards under their architecture and they don't want to push DX10.1 for fear of giving AMD an advantage. Who knows?

Good point, if it was something software related chances are they would just release a patch (ZOMG NVIDIA DRIVARZ!!!!!!!!!?). Is there any real push for it though? I thought 10.1 was kind of dead in the water.

It's very strange if you ask me. Surely adding DX10.1 would make people upgrade beause it's the latest thing. They could even throw in a magical crysis patch for DX10.1 to make it sell!!!

While it would seem that way, the Assasin's Creed 20% antialiasing performance 'glitch' is still a bit fishy. The only reason it's dead in the water is because nVidia is sinking it with cheques

4870 isnt meant to compete with the GTX 280 and the GTX 280 is gonna run really hot with hardly any oc room

if you got the money i guess the GTX 280 but i think people will be wasting their money, as nothing is out that needs it bar 1-2 lousy games.

Wonder how many dx10.1 games are coming before these new cards get a refresh.

hardly any, and cooler cards are due in autumn/winter, not too sure about the refreshes. Hopefully not that long, but the way nvidia have been going with the 8800 GTX it might not be for ages.

:D:D:D

Makes the decision so much harder, CPU + Mobo or GTX 280
